Re: exposure to wildfires

We have not had to suffer from wildfire smoke but there was a " mulch mountain "

fire in NW SA that burned for over three months and many people lived in hotels

for that time because of the smoke and their respiratory conditions. It was

finally put out after we had several hard rains and a special crew came in to

work on it. I had friends who suffered from that smoke.

We also have had smoke from the burning fields in Mexico every May that the

wind blows directly out of the south/southwest. I remember one May/June it was

so bad that the heavy smoke made it look like cloudy for several days in a row.

It was not fun....

So I can sympathize with feeling like you are a prisoner in your own home.

When we are under an air quality alert, that is the way I feel--I don't go out

for any reason unless it is a dire emergency and then I try to cover my mouth

and nose from house to car.

We pray that God sends rain and the fires can be put out very soon.

Happy Mother's Day to all of our Mother's!

I feel for you - it is terrible to be exposed to fires like that,

even for a healthy person, much less for one of us. We've only had

one wildfire that got near where I live. It was put out within

hours, but I had to leave work that day and go home.

As a former Floridian, I think " God's waiting room, " is a great term

for it, although I'm sure it is hell on earth now with the fires.
