" are you from Canada? Here, in the states, the epi-pen is now required. This all came about in between my dr's appointment earlier this year. They were not going to give me the shot unless I have the epi-pen. Thank God, one of the nurses check my records and verified this all took place in between the shots so they gave me the medication. However, for now on, when I go for my appointment I have to bring the epi-pen. Scary that anaphylaxis can occur. I read other side effects from other meds, they too do not mix with night time reading. These meds help, even with the side effects. I guess one has to weigh that all into the equation. Meanwhile, here in sunny Florida, I call it God's waiting room, we have been having wildfires and smoke coming down from Georgia. I spent last night in the ER. I now term Florida as hell on earth. It's up in flames and smoke. Today the smoke is not bad like the last few days, but there is a haze and the sun is trying to make its way through. The sun appears to be orange red. Another scorcher. I have to stay indoors with the AC. Feel like a prisoner in my own surroundings. Limited to what I can do. I feel hyper from the meds, shaky, etc. I did go outside, it is best if I listen to the dr's orders ok, enough rambling. Thanks for listening, reading, etc Have a pleasant day --- <carrie72583@...> wrote: > Hi, > > When I went for my apt this week, I had a chance > encounter with our local Xolair rep. Guest guest
I've been recieving Xolair now for over almost two years and my practice does not require an Epi-pen. My allergist has over 20 patients on Xolair and he's a participant in a clinical trial on the effectiveness of Xolair. The one thing they did do was change the waiting period for Xolair to 30 minutes (it had been 20 before then). > > statement 4: > " 4) There has not been one single case of > > anaphylatic-like reactions in Canada. Guest guest
Hi : Thanks for the info. Kathy <carrie72583@...> wrote: Hi, When I went for my apt this week, I had a chance encounter with our local Xolair rep. She clarified a few things for me.... 1) Most ppl can hope for a 50% improvement in their baseline (whatever that is). Thus, hoping to live on 2 puffs of Flovent a day when before you were on max doses + pred 50mg is not realistic. So ppl may do better and some may do worse but tbat is the average. So if I was before stuck on 12.5 mg pred and now I am on 5mg so that is more than a 50% drop in the dose which puts me approximately par for the course. 2) There is mixed views about what pred does to IgEs. So she said most docs just dose at whatever level you produce regardless of your pred usage. That is how they did the studies too. More xolair is not necessarily better... 3) Xolair has been shown to be cost-effective in terms of decreased ER visits, lost productivity etc...(they did the math....) 4) There has not been one single case of anaphylatic-like reactions in Canada. There are about 900 users.... Have a great day! Be smarter than spam. Guest guest
The smoke here in Middle Georgia on Saturday was terrible. I walked outside that morning and thought we had our own wildfire going on. The smell of smoke was very strong and the smoke itself looked like an early morning fog. It stayed with us all day long until some lite rain south of us washed some of it out of the air. I was using me rescue inhaler all day long. --- B G <meencantador@...> wrote: > statement 4: > " 4) There has not been one single case of > > anaphylatic-like reactions in Canada.
