Guest guest
I started getting GERD several years ago when I was gaining weight in the gut. I tried everything from Tums to the purple pill with no results. I even had my gall bladder removed thinking that was the problem. I lost 35 pounds and most of my gut and STILL I was in pain. Then I learned that Prednisone aggravates GERD. The more you take, the worse you get. Oh great! The doctor put me on 2 purple pills a day and THAT didn't even work. The pain was so bad, it felt like I was having a heart attack. Several times, they put me in the ICU for a day or two thinking just that. After 2 negative heart cath's they ruled out a heart attack. We have a GREAT gastro doctor in our area. He did an upper GI and FINALLY gave me a correct diagnosis......SPASTIC ESOPHAGUS! He prescribed " Levsin " which I take when needed. I also sleep on a wedge and still take Protonix. The purple pill did NOTHING for me. Being off Pred has helped also. It is very RARE that I have GERD anymore!
