I also agree.

Awhile back, I'm relatively new to this with " adult on-set " , I

realized that one of the things my wife was going through was

preparing herself for me to die. Looking back on it, this was

certainly a reasonable response which would invoke all the responses

Addy mentions in her posting. The things we go through, high risk of

catching (lower immunity because of meds) all manner of life

threatening germs, Hospitalizations with pneumonia/flu etc, visual

effects of your loved one grasping for air, observing your loved one

not able to physically do what they used to do, has a great impact on

our loved ones. If the roles were reversed I would gladly take her

suffering on to me, but it does not work that way so she can not do a

role reversal. This disease effects not only us but our loved ones

and I decided that perhaps I also needed to deal with her fears and

concerns (we just had our 38th wedding anniversary). I do not care

about the asthnostics that are not in my circle of influence, some

are ignorant of the facts (denial is a very powerful tool), some are

cruel, and some could just care less. I have to deal with me and my

" family " which includes close friends, and when I discovered what my

wife was going through, it broke my heart. It was also an opportunity

to grow and deal with life on life's terms.
