Mark,

Hey, I like your ending message :) Welcome to the group!

Almost 4 years of getting a xolair shot in each arm every other week

and have never had any hint of that kind of pain. Now, I HAVE had

REGULAR allergy shots about kill me before but never xolair.

Oh my! That much pain???? Bless your heart!

What does your doctor say? Since it is so painful for you to take the

shots, I hope he doesn't take you off the Xolair.

I can't even fathom having go back to taking gobs of prednisone and

not being able to breathe.

Please keep us informed,

Well, Doug, you beat me to the punch. I had tried to write a note earlier about

Mark's quote, but couldn't get the " compose " box to come up and had to give up

to go eat lunch with my daughter.

Mark: I, too, really like the quote.

As to the aching arms, both of mine have ached even though I get only one shot

and it is in alternate arms each month. This last shot (my 10th), the muscles

in my arm really hurt about two hours after the shot. When I called the nurse,

she told me to take Tylenol or Ibuprofen and see if that would help. It did,

although the arm was sore for about three days, with the soreness less each day.

I couldn't move the steering wheel without the arm really hurting for those

days, though. But it finally faded. Just thought I would mention that. I will

take the aching arm any day to not breathing!

Have a wonderful day, all--I have had a great day--today is my birthday--69

years young.

Thanks. It really was a great day! Thanks so much for the wish. Tuesday Night

my children and grandchildren ate supper with us and that was very special since

I didn't get to see them on my birthday.

i'm not a dr or anything, but to me, it almost sounds like if your

arms are hurting that much, the shot may have been given into the

muscle, rather than into the flab. i did that once when i first

started self injecting and YOUCH!!! that's a mistake i won't make

again!!

maybe one of our more medical people can chime in =o)

Never, all shots have been nearly painless during and after. If they are

done slowly and in the right location, they should not hurt save for perhaps

a small pinch on insertion and a feeling of fullness as the fluid goes in.

I find it hard to believe that your shots are not being administered

intramuscularly which is an injection error. Subcutaneous (subQ), as they

should be done, is just directly into fat cells. SubQ should not affect the

muscles of your arm which is what would ache and what would be sore to lift,

turn a steering wheel, etc. if they are actually injecting

into muscle tissue in error.

If it were me, I'd discuss this thoroughly with my Dr and see about having

them inject into the " hanging flabby flesh " that hangs down from your upper

arm when you raise it so the elbow is shoulder level. If you don't have any

hanging flabby flesh on the back/underside of the upper arm, then you should

discuss other injection site options with your doctor so they can be certain

to inject it into fat rather than into muscle.

Hope that helps and please let us know if you do explore this with your Dr

and the outcome.
