Hi and Happy Birthday to Adah sounds like you had a great time

celebrating with your family!

Thank you for all the anwers re: my ? about 2 shots in one arm. That

is what I ended up doing when I called Novaris they said the only

concern is the integrity of the skin. My shots were in 2 diff spots

on my arm if my doc is good with it so am I. But on to the good stuff.

I had my second shot 05/08/07. I was expecting to see results in 3- 4

months. But two things happened to me. They did a PFT before my shot

and my PFT scores increased a little bit (in the first 3 or 4

catagories) from last months results. I was excited about that

especially since we were having some wicked Santa Ana winds and my

allergies were aggravated. Then secondly I had a " paranormal

phenomena " or should I say miracle! I had my shots at 4:20 pm then I

went to my deep water excercise class and after swam laps. As I

mentioned in a post a few days back about peak flows, pre neb I am

300/350 and post 400. Especially in the am 300+350 or after excercise.

I came home and used my peak flow it flew up to 500. This was post

neb. I thought there was something wrong with my peak flow meter so I

used it like 4 times. At one time post neb I was just under 525. The

highest I have done on that pfm is 450ish post neb. So do you think

that the Xolair captured all those circulating IGE dudes that fast?

Anyone else have this type of experience like right after your shot?

BTW: Mark I had pain in my arms afterwards and I used Ice packs. I

also liked your quote!

Take care everyone,

Laurie

Thanks, Laurie. I did have a great birthday. My husband and daughter each

brought me a bouquet of roses which I now have in my living room--I love fresh

flowers and don't get to have them often enough--and no, they don't bother me as

we get the ones that have no odor.

Sounds like you have had some good results early. That's great!

Now to some of the other issues--(I had to read about 10 posts.)

Weight gain--I have gained a few pounds, but the bad part is that I have tried

just by dieting. However, I do exercise when I have a chance to go to the gym.

I have just had a busy two weeks and one more to go before my life will settle

down into a less hectic routine. Then I hope to get into a regular exercise

routine of walking and weights. My husband wants me to try the water aerobics

and this summer I may get into that. Right now I am a little hesitant to get

into a swimsuit! By the way--because I have been on pred at least two times

every year since my asthma kicked in, I have not been able to lose weight with

any consistency, so still have all of my weight from when I was on pred off and

on for five years. This weight is very hard to get off and the older I get the

harder it is to lose it. I did have some notable success with the south beach

diet, but it is hard to stay on it.

Sore arms: the nurses who give me my shots are very careful to give them to

me in the " hanging flab " in my arms. So I don't know why my arms are sore,

either. It does go away by the end of the week and has varied in intensity each

time. I will talk with the doctor in August when I see him again. I have told

Joanna and she has put it on my chart each time.

Allergic sinusitis: The last sinus infection I had was during the cedar

season in January of 2006. I had an infection July of 2005 and Nov. of 2005 as

well. I breezed through the mountain cedar and this spring season. I have been

taking xolair since Aug. 2006. I have had some sneezing and some slight

drainage, but it hasn't lasted like it did in the past, when it would become a

full blown sinus/respiratory infection. If I make it through another year

without a sinus infection, I'll believe then that the xolair has helped with

that, too. I have no medical facts to back any of this up--just what I have

experienced and I know that everyone is different!

Have a great weekend all........
