Guest guest
OK, I'm one of three lucky folks who gets the Xolair shipped to my house. Yes, you read that correctly. Anyhoo, my current specialty pharmacy, Accredo Novafactor - great operation - has been shipping it to me for about a year and a half via UPS. Each time we arrange a shipment I ok them to leave it at the door. Did so this last time. FYI, they pack it to last at the required temp for 72 hours. They ship it next day, so I have an extra 48 hours just in case. Well, they must have re-shopped their shipping contract. I came home two Thursdays ago to find a Fed Ex slip at my door. HUGE PROBLEM - my schedule had changed dramatically and I was leaving before the Fed Ex place opened for another city to take care of drastically ill inlaws AND my husband was leaving for the state high school varsity baseball championships and we were not going to be available to sign crap. SO, I called Fed Ex and asked them to hold the shipment at the Fed Ex station and not put it back on the truck. I sent a friend with my Fed Ex slip to pick it up. Fed Ex had instructions not to release the package to anyone but the recipient. My friend went back and forth with them for 30 minutes, b/c they were going to insist on holding it 72 hours before sending it back to Accredo Novafactor, which would result in the medicine going back - $6400 worth, because they send a month's worth at a time, and I get three vials every two weeks!!!! Finally my friend said, " look, it's not just the fact that you'll have to pay for the medicine that's gone bad. You're going to have to pay my friend's hospital bill when she gets home on Sunday and can't take her medicine on time. She needs it to BREATHE!!! " Anyhoo, some higher up fed ex person authorized them to release it to her and she took it home and put it in HER fridge. Let's just say I " m gonna have them start shippin git to me at my office. Take care, all, Addy
