Guest guest
Since you have mentioned being outside, I have not been able to work in the yard outside for about 20 years because of my asthma. In fact, if I was traveling and knew I would be touring/walking outside, my doc would give me pred to go ahead and take so I could enjoy the trip. I have had a breakthrough and I believe I have xolair to thank. Thursday a friend and I spent an hour and a half walking through the Botanical Gardens here in San and the only thing that happened was I took a sip of water, it went down the wrong way and I had a couging spell from that! I had not even a slight catch in my throat nor did I use my rescue inhaler at all. I felt good yesterday and still feel good today! There were all sorts of flowers both cultivated and wild (in fact one whole field of nothing but wild flowers)--lots of pollen floating around as well as some fungus and whatever else grows in a stagnant pool at the bottom of one of the rocky rises in the ground where a spring runs after a lot of rain. But nothing bothered my breathing! We even went through an old house (from the early 1800's) with mold on the walls and I still came out without any difficulty in breathing! Xolair works! It is the only answer. Two, three, four years ago, I would have had allergic rhinitis so bad that it would have turned into an infection and----you all know the routine--antibiotics and a strong round of pred, neb four times a day as well as the usual meds! Not this time, though. I don't recall even sneezing! Just had to share that break through with all of you--and oh--it was uphill for some of the walkways, too! Beautiful experience I might add. There were four examples of various landscapings that used grasses, flowers, other plants, bushes, trees and vines that were drought-tolerant. And then the irony is that it began raining on us just as we finished our tour and we have rain in the forecast everyday for this next week! But we all here in SA know that during July and August things can turn very hot and rain/water becomes a precious commodity. Last summer yards all over SA were brown--no rain and severe water rationing. People really were conserving for the most part. Right now SA looks like the rain forest, and we are not complaining until the mold count goes way up. People here really are beginning to landscape with drought tolerant plants and grasses and trees and with more that grow here naturally as well. So much for the botany experience! I am looking forward to the day it quits raining so I can get out in the yard and help with our flower beds. Just had to share. Guest guest
Adah, I too have had a dramatic change in the amount of time I can spend o utside thanks to Xolair. I can even garden without getting terrible skin rashes. It used to be that it didn't matter how long my sleeves and pants were and how thick my gloves were, I would get a terrible skin rash if I worked in my yard. Now that is a thing of the past.
