Guest guest
Hello all... I had my first Xolair shot four weeks ago (150 mg every four weeks) and about ten days ago I developed a small rash on both legs behind my knee's and on the inside of my arms behind my elbows. I have been trying to knock it down with Benadryl and Cortizone Cream. That slowed it down a bit, but it has persisted and is expanding up and down my legs and arms. It is red and bumpy and does itch pretty good. Absolutely nothing has changed in my day to day life. Same clothes (no new ones), body soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener, food, etc. I am having an allergic reaction to something???? I went in for my allergy and Xolair shot and my dr. got a bit nervous. He believes it may be a delayed reaction to the Xolair. He said he will not consider another shot until the rash is gone. I have been getting allergy shots for six weeks (one per week) and I have still not reacted to the shot. So, they are increasing the percentage of allergen each time. I am half way through round two of four, then I will hit my maint. dose (one shot per month for one year). I am allergic to molds, cat dander and dust mites. I have not been around anything different either. So, my dr. prescribed me some Betamethasone Valerate Cream USP 0.1% to see if it can stop the rash. I hope this stops the rash in its tracks so I can continue with the Xolair therapy? It is pretty much the last thing to try. I am on 40 mg of the evil candy and a bunch of other stuff. I developed my allergic asthma after I was exposed to high levels of the things I am allergic to while at work doing an inspection of a home. I did not know that I was allergic to these things until I was exposed. In fact, I did not have asthma until I was exposed. This all started at the end of September 2006. So, the past eight months have pretty much side-lined me. It put me out of work for six months and I am on desk-duty for the next two months, at least. My question is, has anyone experienced what I am experiencing? Any rash that has started after Xolair has begun. Does anyone have any thoughts on what is going on? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
