Guest guest
Addy: I know what you mean about sinus infections. Before xolair, I had at least two, sometimes three bad sinus infections a year--took antibiotics and pred to get rid of it and then I still had a residual cough for at least a month to six weeks after. The last sinus infection I had was in January 2006. I began xolair in August 2006 and have made it almost a year and a half without even any bad runny noses from allergies. The usual time for me to have infections was during the fall, from Christmas through January and again in March/April. So far I have even made it through the high mold count with only some shortness of breath and a few sneezes. In fact I just saw my allergist today and he is happy at how well I am doing since I started the xolair. (I have to go to another one for the shot, but this is the allergist who has treated me for over twenty years for my asthma.) However, that being said, I have acid reflux and a huge hiatal hernia which he increased my medicine for and is very insistent that I now see a gastroenterologist about. He is the first doctor out of the four that I see regularly who has even suggested I see about treatment for the hernia--maybe even surgery (which I will research thoroughly on the net before going any further!) Anyone else out there have acid reflux and a hiatal hernia as well? I'm just glad that my breathing troubles are now minimal. pyle456 <coachmac@...> wrote: I don't think I've had a real cold more than twice. It's always allergies. REgardless, either will turn into a sinus infection if more than one day passes. I've also had " spontaneous combustion " sinus infections where I can literally feel one area of my sinus swell and stuff get trapped in there, and the next day I'm infected. Addy Last sinus infection over five months ago, thank you Xolair. --------------------------------- oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links. Guest guest
Yes, I also have severe reflux but only with a small hiatal hernia. The reflux definitely contributes to my asthma (and the hiatal hernia contributes to the reflux). I'm on Nexium and Reglan (metoclopramide) for the reflux, which helps a lot. I also sleep with a foam wedge under my pillow to reduce reflux. When I lie flat, I start coughing and feel short of breath within minutes. Fran > I don't think I've had a real cold more than twice. Guest guest
Thanks, Fran. I have been sleeping on extra pillows, but I have finally convinced my husband we either need to get a wedge or raise the head of the bed. I cannot lie flat at all, either. I have a hard time when I go in for a ct scan or an MRI. But those usually don't last very long and they do give me something for my head at least. I am taking nexium two times a day and 2 zantac at bedtime. tiredofsteroids <sitesee@...> wrote: Yes, I also have severe reflux but only with a small hiatal hernia.
