Guest guest
Of course I couldn't help cruising the internet for a long time again this evening re my Ige jumping from 355 to 1,730 in 6 weeks w/3 treatments of Xolair. Here's something I found that was rather interesting on Patient Education Monograph About Drug Finder: " At 16 weeks after the first dose, average serum total IgE levels are five-fold higher compared with pre-treatment when using standard assays. " Okay, that would mean that at 16 weeks I would expect my IgE to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 1775 since it started at 355. But, in only 6 weeks it went to 1,370. Assuming that IgE goes up proportionately (and it might very well not do so) I would expect my IgE at 6 weeks to be less than half of the 16 weeks which would make it well less than 887 - maybe more like 750. That's a huge difference. I've noticed that there isn't much written about actual IgE figures once the patient is on Xolair. Their end purpose was to reduce allergic asthma attacks more than calculate IgE. However, I'm a bit suspicious that such a high figure so early does have some sort of meaning and without research no one will know what it means. I see that Xolair is processed in the liver - that's probably why the doc ran liver function tests that turned out ok. I'm hoping to find out the reason for the IgE soon!
