Guest guest
With regards to KK's response, I was not on steroids much pre-Xolair, yet I also have joint pain and fatigue. No other med or lifestyle changes either. So i am a believer that this is a side-effect of Xolair until proven otherwise.... Still curious WHY this would be a side-effect, Mark " Man is not valuable because he loves God; Man is valuable because God loves him. Guest guest
I can attest to serious joint pain. Xolair shot number 1 left me in bed for 2 days, knees, hips, foot pain when walking. It was bad enough that I wondered whether breathing was worth it. Each shot of my first 4 or 5 had a different reaction. However, the pain was not like arthritis, more like nerve inflammation. My physician at UNC was part of the clinical trials, and was not surprised. See: http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/xolair_ad.htm. I'm at 8 months, and my hips may never be quite the same, but, the rest has subsided. > > With regards to KK's response, I was not on steroids much pre-Xolair, yet I also have joint pain and fatigue. Guest guest
For me there just isn't an option of quitting Xolair. The dr. was doing everything he could to keep me alive before he could get me on Xolair. I have very severe asthma - my lungs are brittle and fragile. I have been on very high doses of Solimedrol/Depomedrol/Predisone before Xolair. My peak flow on good days hovered around 150. I had to have home health care for a while just so I could get Solimedrol. I have two doctors working on trying to figure out what is wrong with me. One of the doctors contacted Nova-Factor to see what they could come up with. What I am praying for is something to relieve the pain. If it is a side-effect of Xolair then I hope there is some type of solution the doctors can do to allow me to cope with the pain. Guest guest
Bless your hearts. I am so sorry you are having such a rough time with joint pain. If it was me, I would have a long talk with my doctor about taking me off Xolair and putting me back on Prednisone. I would be able to breathe and the Prednisone would care of my joint pain. I would then however, have to live with the other serious side effects and consequences of taking Presnisone....... Diabetes, cataracts, bone loss, massive weight gain, irritability, deep depression, hyperactivity etc... From taking years of prednisone, I have had 3 cataract surgeries, 2 cervical disk fusion surgeries and am type II Diabetic just to mention a few things. I know the choices we asthmatics have to make just to be able to breathe are hard. Sometimes, we have to outweigh the good with the bad. This is just my case and opinion and I am NOT a doctor. I am just someone who has been on Prednisone most of his life till liberated from it by Xolair. Thank you for posting. It is my prayer that xolair will also be the miracle drug for you that it was for me and 99% of the others in this group. ) PLEASE talk to your doctor before making ANY changes in your own healthcare.
