The executive officer(s) (whom shall remain nameless) who made the decision not to hire Mike Pileggi for the Salt Lake City conference made a colossal blunder in my opinion. I served as conference co-chair for the 1999 conference in Portland, and we could not have pulled it off without Mike Pileggi. He is an invaluable resource and a true friend of LPA. We wouldn't be getting screwed by the hotel if he were on board. Hopefully the executive committee realizes this at the Orlando meeting and pencils in Mike for future conferences. -Bill Bradford 1999 Conference Co-Chair D11 Newsletter Editor Puget Sound Chapter President
Guest guest
Becca I thought Mike had nothing to do with this conference? If there was a problem with the contract at the beginning it would not have been his job to change it or make suggestions ,especially if SLC wasn't going to use him. There is blame and it is clearly National's -they fought tooth and nail for control of conventions and this is what they get for being so dam greedy and control freakish!!!!!! I belive this is just the tip of the iceberg that is coming!!!!!!! C.
Guest guest
I AGREE! I was co-chair for the '96 conference in Indy. Working with Mike was an absolute pleasure! He's talented, professional, and handles an unbelieveable amount of details for the committee. You said it best Bill...he's a true friend of LPA! To me, hosting a conference without Mike's help is a huge mistake. Best of luck to Salt Lake! 1996 Conference Co-Chair & Tina Bradford wrote: > Marjorie E. Guest guest
Mr. O' Hara, Surely there is a nicer way to handle this then to be nasty about it. We are entitled to ask questions and we are in turn, entitled to answers. Maybe you can be a bit nicer in the future. Especially if you are planning a " welcoming " convention. Thanks, Jackie
Guest guest
LPA Members, As the chairperson of the 2004 National Conference, I wanted to write in on this room issue in Salt Lake. One thing that is getting lost in shuffle here is that the room block was not determined by the Conference Committee. However, the conference committee has taken on the role of attempting to fix it. As soon as this matter is resolved, I have no doubt that Dave O'Hara and the conference committee will let us all know. In the meantime, lets all show some patience. Respectfully yours, Rob Haines
Guest guest
Like I said people. We will have this fixed. Just make your reservations, and move on in life. Should your reservations include the first Friday, then so be it. Once we get the Room Block problem fixed, you can alter your reservation accordingly. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on Mr. Pilleggi. But until you know what happened, I would imagine it's not a concern for you to worry about. I will refrain from explaining the reasons why PARTICULAR people like Mike Pileggi. FYI Mr Bradford, Mike Pilleggi had a HUGE hand in creating the contract (which included the Room Block). Guest guest
Hi My husband called the hotel today, and the rooms are still $160. If we reserve it for that price, when more rooms are blocked off can we then get it for the $89? Also I was wondering when everyone will know when there will be more rooms avaible? Thanks __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I hear you guys on the hotel room thing. I am currently living in one because our pipes busted and flooded our apartment. Thank you all for the tips on how to make it better. The air conditioner at this place scares me. Well I had to get out of my musty wet apartment. Take care all! I travel to warm climates, so many of my hotel destinations don't have carpet. The portable (aircraft use) air purifiers are available on www.magellans.com. I have not tried them because it's just one more thing to have to explain to TSA. Last time they questioned me about my portable nebulizer!
