been? Has anyone been permitted higher than 375? I'm on 300 of Xolair

and ask my Dr. to eventually up it to 375.Thanks-

Hi Marie,

Thank you for your prayers. A few of the fires are

near containment. The

San Diego fires have been particularly brutal and

devastating. As have the Arrowhead mountain area and

the Santiago canyon fire near my hometownin Orange

County. We have several fires near or just in Ventura

county border we are getting smoke from 3 to 4 fires

in the area including the the Arrowhead fire.

I had an asthma attack and had to leave work early

on Monday my doc put me on a medral dose pack. I

hadn't been

on any pred since I have been on X at least this is a

small dose. This happened at my work in Simi Valley

when huge amounts of smoke from the son Ranch

fire aka

Magic fire (named that because it started near magic

mountain) came over our hills and came into our

office.

Then I had to go to my car and drive home. I'm doing

much better returned to work yesterday. I hope the

smoke will be bearable today.

I don't know the answer to your IGE question I will

let one of the experts answer that one. My husband is

from Jersey too, Clifton.

Can't imagine what you're going through! I can bearly watch the news...

Glad you're feeling better. I can't believe you're husband is from

Clifton!!! I live in Little Falls, which borders Clifton-talk about

small world! My first husband (LOL) is Clifton's Public Works Inspector-

Engineering Dept., and husband #2 and I have business equipment that we

park in Clifton. Best regards to hubby and hang in there!

As I recall, the Medrol pack starts out a bit too high and tapers off

a bit too fast - the last dose is too high for stopping. I refused

to take it - my endo explained all that to me years ago.

Per prednisone - this sounds incredibly high at 40 or 60 mgs. The

idea is to sort've shock the body and that can be done at a much

lower dose. I'd rather string out a very very low dose than have to

taper from an extremely high one. On prednisone I hardly knew which

way was up and weakness and blood sugar (low) were dangerous.

I've been on Aristocort (triamcinolone) although not for 9 months

despite what the doctor recommended. It was easier on me. I started

at 12 mgs, dropping the dose by 4 mgs each day to taper off. That

way, in 3 days my body got the message and there was less harm done.

For some reason the drug isn't that popular now - I've gone to a

compounding pharmacy to get it.
