Xolair and pregnancy

Well, so far so good at 31 weeks, 4 days...the baby seems to be doing

just fine, and aside from a little flare that I had due to a

respiratory infection, all is well. I'm participating the Expect study

that Genentech is doing on the effects of Xolair during pregnancy and

the subsequent effects on the child. We'll be talking to the

pediatrician about it when we go in on Friday to meet and greet.

My obstetrician has been pretty receptive all along to my continuing

the Xolair treatment while I've been pregnant. This doesn't surprise

me a whole lot, I suppose, since it's a cat B med...prednisone is a C,

and they told me from the very beginning that they'd use it if they had

to.

I'll keep you all posted!!

Thank you for being open to sharing with us how you are doing with

Xolair and pregnancy! I am so excited for you! I do not have kids,

but about 10 years ago I was on a plane with a high risk OB-GYN and I

will never forget that she said that it is crucial for asthmatics to

stay on their meds because the WORST thing is to get in a position

where y ou don't have enough O2 for the baby! She also said the same

thing about pred....

Good luck, God bless, and let us know how you and the baby are doing!!
