Guest guest
Right now I'm having terrible Ragweed allergies/hay fever. When Xolair first came out everyone like me seemed so hopeful that it would one day help people with seasonal allergies, but apparently that's not the case! I guess it either 1) has not been successful in this area in the FDA trials or 2) is still incredibly expensive. I was even told by one allergist that one day it would become available in tablet form. What a bummer. I am very happy for all of the asthmatics that it has helped but just wish it had turned out to be the " miracle drug " that I had hoped for. If anyone has any info, please let me know. Thanks all (acho!) Jeff
Guest guest
Jeff, It is possible that individual patients with what I call " Severe Allergic Sinus Disease, " without asthma may receive authorization to go on Xolair. By that I mean patients with very high IgE counts and frequent severe sinus infections for which allergic reaction is the only known cause (no polyps or fungus or anything). Those patients will need frequent antibiotics and lots of steroids and be nonresponsive or nearly nonresponsive to traditional allergy shots. For folks who have seasonal allergies that are reasonably controlled with traditional therapies and who do not have repeated infections (by that, I mean four or more infections a year), Xolair is not the solution at this time. IF they are able to stabilize it so that it can be less expensive (doesn't have to be refrigerated; etc.), then it may end up being an option for a larger population. That's probably several years down the road, however. My doc's office has patients with SEVERE allergic skin conditions on Xolair who are finally wearing short sleeve shirts and shorts after years of having to cover up. Guest guest
It must be the cost. I am on X for asthma but it has also significantly helped my allergies and I have only been on it for 2 months.

Guest guest
Very good info. Thanks Addy. I'll just keep waiting and continue to be happy for all of the asthmatics out there who have been helped so much from Xolair. Jeff > > > > Right now I'm having terrible Ragweed allergies/hay fever.
