Guest guest
I went in for my Xolair last week and had my laptop and a book ready to sit for my normal 2 hours afterwards. Not so this time...yay!!! Apparently they received new guidelines and since i have had more than some # of shots (actually over 2 years, i've had 2 shots every 2 weeks) I only had to wait 30 minutes afterwards. Instead of just going in, getting my shots and sitting, now I have to go back get my weight/temp/blood pressure/spirometry and then get my shots. Seems like overkill to me, but hey i'll take that over waiting 4 hours every month. I'm just hoping my insurance will still cover everything 100% with all of this. Guess i'll find out soon. G. Guest guest
I was in yesterday for my shot and I received the same 411 from my doc. She told me this was per the AAAAI and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Guest guest
I start my first shots today. I was told the same by my nurse. She said the first time I have to be there for 2 hours. After that I have to only wait 30 minutes (unless I want to stay longer). Guest guest
I've never had a really long wait. 40 minutes the first time and 10 every time since. The only thing they check beforehand is my blood pressure. With all the concern over guidelines and such, I find it interesting that we're all having such different experiences. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Moody friends. Guest guest
That is good news! The word is out. Congrats on your first shot Kristy. My Dr. told me after waiting 2 hours for the first 2 shots (which I have already done) then the wait will be 1/2 hour now. I have my shots once a month so I meet with my Dr. each time as well and they do a Pulmonary function test each time. Best wishes for better breathing in the future! Guest guest
Oh, my, how can you **stand** a pulmonary function test each time? (!!!) Is this the full blown thing in the plexiglass booth and machine and blowing into a blocked tube along with the breathing out until nearly passing out? I really feel like death warmed over afterward - last time could even taste blood! Of course, an incompetent tech made it worse when he forgot to turn on his machine 3 times in a row!!!! I thought I was going to have a heart attack! I have to have the test before each visit to the pulmo which is about once every 3 or 4 months. I absolutely hate it! My pulmo wisely allows me and apparently all of her patients to inject at home. > I went in for my Xolair last week and had my laptop and a book ready to > sit for my normal 2 hours afterwards.
