Guest guest
I am starting the shots 2x a month scared bc of the financial end. Will it ever end? Holidays are up and coming. Last thing I want to do is spend it alone but I feel am getting pushed that direction. I am getting sardonic remarks. " Honey, I am getting Christmas candles, oh wait, are you allergic to that too " . I am tired all around. I am doing the shots in hope for the best. I am having a tough time seeing the best when I feel they should add on to the local hospital wing in my name, I am there so much Take care B
Guest guest
It could be worse, you could have the doctor you've worked for an extremely long time see you suffering again and again and tell you that he thinks it's all in your head. And he should know better, he's an internist! He fired me for leaving the building in the midst of an allergic reaction and going to the ER. Dread the upcoming season too because the financial crunch of being on Xolair and not having a job is going to make it a meager one. So how many here have had side effects from the X? Guest guest
Do you have a friend at school you might spend at least part of the Christmas holidays with? I remember your toxic family story very well and wish you didn't have to listen to their garbage any more. Perhaps spending holidays away from them would both be better all around for you and send a clear message to them (which, granted, they may never hear). I have a family that has been toxic in other ways and am here to tell you that there are times that staying away from them has been the best thing I ever did for myself. Sending comforting hugs and hoping the shots help you TREMENDOUSLY - Fran > > I am starting the shots 2x a month > > scared bc of the financial end. Will it ever end? > > Holidays are up and coming. Guest guest
I'd like to echo Fran's warm and reasonable post. This may be the year to spend Christmas with a friend. Don't forget to check with the local hospital and similar entities for support groups for folks living with chronic disease. Meanwhile, do what you can to take good care of yourself and find small comforts wherever you can. Guest guest
If you go to the Xolair web page they have a search page for doctors who prescribe Xolair. That's how I found my current doctor who expedited everything with my new insurance. It was pretty seamless thankfully when I moved from Denver to St. Louis. Also I made sure they were the top docs -- through a web search and calling the Asthma and Allergy foundation. It also helps if they have an office administrator who can deal with the insurance end of things which can be a nightmare. If so, how difficult was it? The allergist whose office administers my Xolair will not see me as a patient but referred me to a pulmonologist, who doesn't really know much about Xolair. Therefore, I feel that I am not being monitored while on this very powerful and expensive medication, and that is a little scary. I also stopped the allergy shots because I didn't feel it was safe since I was not under the care of an allergist, only medical assistants. > Since my asthma is entirely related to allergies, I feel that I should find another allergist who will take over my care, but I haven't done anything because of the Xolair shots and being unsure how difficult it would be to change to a new doctor. > Also, I really like the MA who administers my Xolair -- she is very good at what she does. > Thanks. > Carol > Yes, twice. Once I moved to another city. The doctor referred me to another allergist there, transfered my records and the there was no problem at all. The 2nd time it was because my doctor left and went to another practice out of state. The new doctor that took his place you ask? He was the one in the first city who prescribed xolair for me in the first place. He moved here! Doug
