Actually, guys, I was put to sleep for my biopsy one year ago. I had the

option of that or not. My doctor suggested I go to sleep, so I did and it

was just fine.

My suggestion is...ask your own doctor. Obviously they vary, but I'm glad

mine did it the way he did. I didn't want to be awake and there was no

reason for me to be alert during the procedure. He did all the work. I just

laid there.

Hi na, welcome to the group. I have not had the mental confusion, even

though my doctor did say it was possible that you could develop encephalitis

if the hepatitis has gone untreated and advanced. Now, I do know the

Prednisone can really make you feel confused. It's a horrible drug and can

make you think and feel so many different things that you normally could not.

If you think going to a neurologist would ease your mind, I'd go, but in my

opinion it's probably just the stress and meds.

Once again, guys that are talking about their liver biopsys, you can be put

to sleep. My doctor told me that every patient should have that choice. It

is much easier that way and there is not one reason you need to be alert or

awake. I did have to lay on my side for several hours after the procedure,

but that's all. So, you should ask your doc about being put to sleep. I

recommend it.

Hello ,

I am from Vermont, I have only met a few other na's, 2 more in VT and one in

Wisconsen.

Thanks for responding to my message, my family Doc also suspects it is just the

Prednisone so I think I won't do too much about it until we lower the dose and

see what happens.

Hi na... Welcome..

When I was first diagnosed with AIH the Gastrologist wanted just to give me a

local ( numb the site ) and then do the biopsy.. I have Fibromyalgia also, so

it hurt just to do the sonagram to locate my liver..

He tried to do it that but he couldn't..So my family physician had me go as a

out-patient and had another Doctor do it.. This time they gave me a injection

of something ( don't know what it was ) but it relaxed me so much that I went

through the biopsy and had no problems.. It doesnt take that long at all.. I

myself would recommend just being a little groggy.. Unfortunetly, I found out

that I have Steado-Hepatis ( fatty-liver)

and Cirrohsis of the Liver.. So I have to lose weight and keep a keep going

to a Hepatologist every 3 months for a check-up...

You will be in my prayers!!

Hugs,

Deb

hi all!

My question relates to ongoing studies with Xolair. I am having a

lot of thyroid issues which my endocrinologist thinks 'may' be due to

Xolair. I can't seem to find any info on how the studies are going

except the initial one. Any ideas?

thankyou,

helen

Hi Helen,

I doubt that the ongoing long-term study will be published in any

form before it is completed unless something dramatic turns up while

the study is in progress. This would be why you're unable to find any

info about the study. Would you mind sharing what thyroid issues

you're dealing with and why your endo feels they may be due to Xolair?
