Guest guest
Due to the weather conditions I was pretty much on Pred the entire month of August. I did 4 consecutive 60mg tapers and just couldn't get off the stuff until about 7-10 days ago. Because of it I've experienced the following symptoms: Acne - this is the absolute worst. Some minor puffy face. Hyperactivity/Quick Temper Excess Stress/Irritability - the smallest thing just seems to bother me. A ferocious appetite. I could just eat like a horse. Where's the food? After this experience I have a new appreciation and admiration for people who have to take this nasty, awful, simply horrible medication so adequately termed, " evil candy. " It truly is evil! I've been off it for 7-10 days (can't remember exactly when I stopped) and the symptoms just aren't going away. How long does it take for your body to go back to normal after stopping the meds? Guest guest
I broke out in severe acne around my nose when I took a long taper of Pred in the spring pollen season and while most of it went away in about six weeks I still have one spot that didn't drain and is just waiting for me go on Pred again so it can swell back up and press on every nerve in the area. Ugggh! I've had the other symptoms you mention but they went away quickly. Now I'm dealing with gum disease due to plaque build up that my dentist says is probably complicated by the chronic dry mouth I have from other allergy meds. I'd love to kick the antihistamines but I start sneezing right away when I stop. Also have cataracts which have gotten worse in the past year. Maybe the Pred helped them along. Maybe the steroids in Advair are contributing. Who knows? All in all, though, I had a pretty good summer without any serious asthma attacks and I attribute that Xolair. Am breezing right though the late summer ragweed season too and have been mowing my lawn every week without needing a mask. I'll declare my year plus on Xolair a real success if I get through to the first frost without needing a dose of Prednisone. Then, if Mr. Mold doesn't nail me when I'm cooped up inside for the winter I'm going to try to start kicking all the other evil stuff, not just the Prednisone. > > Due to the weather conditions I was pretty much on Pred the entire month of August. A little young to have those. Doug Group founder
