How long have some of you been taking the shots? Has Xoliar helped you

to improve your lung capacity? Has it also helped with sinus problems,

which for me are harder to control than my asthma symptoms.

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions.

I am getting my first shot next week. The potential for anaphylaxis is

very scary. Does this tend to happen with people that had that kind of

reaction to regular allergy shots or other allergens?

Moderators welcome and note: :))

Thank you for joining and posting. We are glad to have you aboard. :))

This has been a very well covered and exhaustive discussion on our board

for several months now and just a few days ago, we decided to stop

posting about the subject. My co/owner will be posting a FAQ file about

the subject in a few days for everyone to read.

In the mean time, I highly suggest that you read the MANY previous posts

about the subject and most especially TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR if you are

having any doubts whatsoever.

Thank you so much and once again, thanks for joining us. You are among

friends who understand here :))

Once again, WELCOME :)

I have been on Xolair since September 2003 and just got my 104th and

105th shots last Friday.

I have never had ANY problems whatsoever!! The only thing that has

happened is that I have gotten COMPLETELY OFF OF PREDNISONE and my

asthma is almost gone.

It took me over a year to see any results but it was WELL worth the

wait. As for sinus, some of our people have seen improvement even

though Xolair was not created for that purpose.

For more information, please read the FAQ that was emailed to you when

you joined or click on " files " at the left of your screen.

My 14 year old daughter will soon be starting Xolair shots and I would be

interested in

hearing about the side effects other people may have experienced. I am

particularly

concerned about anaphalaxis. She has suffered with asthma her whole life with

one

particularly bad bout last year that required epinephrine administered in the

ambulance

followed by 5 days in the pediatric ICU. I am worried sick and praying this

will make an

improvement in her symptoms. Thank you!

We are glad to have you aboard :))) WELCOME!!!!!!!

I don't blame you one bit for your concern. We are here to help :)

The anaphalaxis topic has been extremely covered several times in this

group. Go to " messages " and type in the word anaphalaxis or reaction.

You will find several posts dealing with the subject.

Did your daughter have a reaction to a regular allergy shot? In my

doctor's office they have had many reactions to regular allergy shots

over the past 4 years but never one to xolair.

As someone who has been on Xoliar for over 4 years now, my best advice

to you is to TRUST YOUR DOCTOR! If you are not comfortable with

his/her judgment,then get a 2nd opinion.

Once again, WELCOME!!!! You are now among friends who are going

through the same things. I highly suggest that you read the success

stories too. There are MANY of them. For many of us, Xolair has been a

very effective weapon in our fight to breathe.

I suggest that you also search on " side effects " which should bring

up past discussions of possible side effects other than anaphylaxis.

My Pulmo says that Xolair may be in my near future. I took the IgE (?)

blood test yesterday and am being sent for lung x-rays and liver tests. My

Advair isn't quite doing the trick anymore and I have been on Prednisone more

than not over the last 2 years. Dealt with Cushing effects and then Secondary

Adrenal Insuff. issues and was finally able to wean off with help of an

Endo...only to find myself back on repeatedly. I'm sure you are aware of that

cycle.

Just looking to educate myself about Xolair. Would be happy to share any of my

experiences along the way if I am indeed put on the treatment. I'm very excited

about the possibility. And very thankful to have found such an informative

page. Karin Green

When I was taking so much prednisone, I have to say that the only good thing

about it was that I got so much work at home done, and that after putting in a

full day of teaching high schoolers!  So glad for the xolair.  I feel better,

still don't have that artificial energy, but do have more energy and without the

prednisone!

Yep, I'm on yet another burst of that evil candy right now. With 40 mgs in my

system I have cleaned my entire house today...my hubby's favorite side effect :)

Just want to thank everyone for the warm welcome. Have a feeling I'm gonna feel

right at home here.
