Guest guest
Hi Ginger, Feel free to post your detailed CBT questions to the list and we will help you design appropriate exposures, after you read the March manual a couple times. We were fortunate to have access to a world-class OCD therapist, but because my daughter was so shy I used our sessions to pick his brain a lot to fine-tune the CBT I was doing at home. If I would've waited for them to bond and him to take the lead, I doubt we would've made much progress. Anyway, by working with her every day, she and I turned around her severe OCD in a very short time. In retrospect, I feel fortunate that her onset was last year and not this year. She was still young enough (7) that she was willing to do what I asked of her re: E & RP. A year later, I get a lot more " attitude " on all fronts! I think it just depends on the child and your relationship, but the therapy protocol is very conducive to " teaming up against " OCD together. It was such a relief to both be on the same side instead of fighting each other. Good luck...you're on the right track! Take care, in San Diego
Guest guest
Given all your connections in the Bay area, perhaps you'll be out here sometime. If so, let me know if you have time for a cup of coffee. Harper
Guest guest
I truly understand where you are coming from. I also have an eye disease called Keratoconus. http://health./ency/healthwise/nord578;_ylt=AtGOC_D4.k7cP5iMjwPspUGD4Lc\ F#nord578-synonyms In 1980 the disease progressed so bad that I had to have cornea transplants in both eyes just to have a chance to be able to see. There was no way of knowing how I would do 20+ years later but I took that chance. Today, I am seeing 20/30 with NO signs of corneal rejection with regular glasses. In 1980 In order to keep my eyesignt, I had to take a chance. It was my choice to have transplants. Four years ago,I had the choice to get off Prednisone that was reeking havoc with my whole body and slowly killing me and try a new medicine. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance. This must be very hard for you. When you child hurts, you hurt too. I am so sorry you are having to go through this. My heart really goes out to you. It is my prayer that you will make the right decision. May I add you and your son to my daily prayer list? God bless you and your son, Doug Group founder
