Hi Helen

I live in the UK and was yesterday diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism otherwise

known as Graves disease. I have a TSH of 0.01 WHEN IT SHOULD BE IN THE RAGE

OF 0.35 – 5.00, Free T4 of 40.9 WHEN IT SHOULD BE IN THE RANGE OF 10 - 23

and Free T3 of 18.4 when it should be 2.8 – 6.5.

I have been on Xolair maximum dose for 6yrs and really hope it’s not

anything to do with it.

So although I have higher levels than you I too think it would be

interesting to hear if anyone else has any problems with their thyroid.

Subject: [ ] thyroid issues related to xolair?

I have recently been diagnosed with low tsh and low t3,t4 and am off to have

an mri this

afternoon of my pituitary gland. Has anyone experienced thyroid issues

whilst on Xolair, or

indeed prednisone? Apparently it is very strange to have low thyroid and low

pituitary

hormone...normally one goes up if the other goes down and vice versa. Any

feed back would

be appreciated,

Helen

Indeed there is no mechanism whereby Xolair would affect your thyroid and

pituitary. Pituitary tumors (benign adenomas) are quite common though and

respond well to treatment. Let us know what your scan shows. Do you have

symptoms of hypothyroidism? (Weight gain, fatigue, depression, hair loss, low

energy).

hi helen, I was diagnosed with hyperthyoidism a year after I started xolair no

idea if it was related. the doctors did not indicate if that was a possibility I

just got off xolair a few months ago and will let you know if my thyroid goes

back to normal.

Elle,

Just wondering why you got off xolair a few months ago, and how have

you been doing since going off? Did xolair help you? and if it did,

did all your symptoms come back since being off the xolair???

I got off it after the black box warning came out, ithe possibility of having an

allergic reaction to it scared me. I have been fine since I got off but it has

only been three - four months now. I am taking 100/50 mcg of advair and

rhinocort aqua nasal spray and zyrtec daily and so far I have been doing fine. I

am trying to see how I do to see if I should resume. elle

I didn't take my shots on Friday, Its been 3 weeks

since I have had xolair, usually get it every 2 weeks

maximum dose. Unfortunately my allergies and asthma

have already started to go back to the way they were.

But I am really worried about this black box warning ,

so I am getting a second opinion from a different

allergy specialist, to see if there is anyway that I

can maintain without xolair. Still don't know what I

will do yet.
