Guest guest
I have my fist shot this Friday and I currently have a sinus infection. Do you postpone your shot until you feel better? Guest guest
typically, the rule with me is as long as i don't have a fever, i can get xolair (regardless of infections). seeing as its your first time, i'd call your dr, let them know of your infection and let them make the choice. good luck! keep us posted! heather --- In , " Becker, " <nbecker@...> wrote: > > I have my fist shot this Friday and I currently have a sinus infection. > Do you postpone your shot until you feel better? Guest guest
Thanks, I already called the doctor. They said I could still get the shot. After the shot I am off to see The Police in Hershey, PA. I'll bring my epi-pen to see Sting! Anyone out there who has had very significent improvement from chronic sinus infections with xolair? ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of heather Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2007 4:33 PM Subject: [ ] Re: 1st shot typically, the rule with me is as long as i don't have a fever, i can get xolair (regardless of infections). seeing as its your first time, i'd call your dr, let them know of your infection and let them make the choice. good luck! keep us posted! heather --- In <mailto: %40> , " Becker, " <nbecker@...> wrote: > > I have my fist shot this Friday and I currently have a sinus infection. > Do you postpone your shot until you feel better? Guest guest
i'm glad the dr said you're still able to get the xolair. i've had severe sinus disease for years - i started xolair and my sinus infections have lessened. just before starting xolair, i got the pnemonia shot, which my dr read that the pnemo. shot also protects against one common strain of sinus infections. in addition, i've taken 500mg of biaxin every night. the biaxin, in long term use acts as an antiinflamatory for teh sinus (and resp??) system. (here's a link to the article http://www.chestjournal.org/cgi/content/full/125/2_suppl/52S ). i know the biaxin is helping b/c i stopped it for a month, and i felt so swollen, i was amazed. i think trying only one or two of the treatments would have been effective, but the triple combo (xolair, pnemo shot and biaxin) has made a HUGE difference. incidently, my ENT was trying to get a study together for xolair in patients with severe sinus disease. unfortunately, he couldn't get the funding or something, but he marvels at me all the time. =o) good luck!! heather > > > > I have my fist shot this Friday and I currently have a sinus > infection. > > Do you postpone your shot until you feel better? Guest guest
I think my sinus infections originate from allergies. I haven't heard about biaxin for long term use but I may try that if the shot doesn't help. Have you had sinus surgery that cleans out the sinus windows? I have had it about 15 years ago. The funny thing is that I had the surgery when I lived in Arizona! This is the place allergic people used to flock to!! After about 4 years of having reduced allergies there, the allergies came on really strong again. Thanks, ________________________________ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of heather Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2007 5:31 PM Subject: [ ] Re: 1st shot i'm glad the dr said you're still able to get the xolair. i've had severe sinus disease for years - i started xolair and my sinus infections have lessened. just before starting xolair, i got the pnemonia shot, which my dr read that the pnemo. shot also protects against one common strain of sinus infections. in addition, i've taken 500mg of biaxin every night. the biaxin, in long term use acts as an antiinflamatory for teh sinus (and resp??) system. Guest guest
When my doc's office was arranging for me to get Xolair I had a cold. They didn't want me to start it for the first time when sick. Not a problem; it took forever for CuraScript to get the nurse out here to " train " me anyway. By that time I was well! --------------------------------- oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links.

Guest guest
Thanks Doug. I've never been nervous about shots before, just this one because of the warnings but I know I can do this. LOL I was not. After receiving these shots for about 6 months the dr orders changed to after receiving the shot I could go.The things I did to keep myself occupied are as follows: made business calls using the phone provided in the pt room, watched the news or whatever happened to be on with a tv that was in the pt room, ate my lunch BRING SOMETHING WITH YOU if it is not provided. The hospital brought up a tray the first 2 months.I brought a book to read, and since there was that one possibility that I could have an adverse reaction, my husband started going with me and when he couldnt come I brought a friend or other family member to keep me company. Good Luck tommarow! I am very glad I have the xolair shots. My asthma is much improved!

Guest guest
Thanks, I'll mention that next time I go. Do you have to fill out a questionair each time describing how you felt(asthma symptoms) in the last 4 weeks. I guess it;s for the insurance co. to see if you are improving or not. Just curious. Guest guest
I got shots at the Dr.'s office when I first started. For the last 2 1/2 years I've been self injecting at home. My Dr still asks when I injected last when he sees me. I have never had to fill out a questionnaire, sounds like an office thing to make sure they are tracking you correctly. Each year my Xolair has to be approved again by the insurance company, but so far this has not been a problem at all. Xolair has never given me any problems, unlike some of my other Meds. For the last year I have kept a chronological synopsis of how I am doing from visit to visit on the computer. I try to keep it very brief. When I visit the Dr I print it out, take it with me, and hand it to the Dr when he walks in. He states he likes it because it gives him a picture of my condition over time. He states he wished his other patients would do it. It also affords me an opportunity to discuss issues with him that I invariable forget when he walks into the room, not that I have a memory problem, LOL! Guest guest
I do....It is about a five question form where I rate the use of albuterol, coughing, whether or not asthma has awakened me, or has kept me from any activity, etc. & nbsp; Every time! & nbsp; I think it is more for the doctor to chart how you are responding to the xolair and whether or not it is beginning to help you. & nbsp; & gt; & gt; & gt; Today, I had my 120th shot. Guest guest
Ron, that is a great idea. & nbsp; I kept an asthma journal sporadically--mainly when I wasn't feeling well. & nbsp; I even put in the temp, pollutants in the air, the pollen count and the humidity and air quality! & nbsp; But just a record of each day, when I had shortness of breath, etc., would help my doctor, and me when I have to fill out those forms! & gt; & gt; & gt; & gt; Today, I had my 120th shot. As usual, not a problem. Guest guest
You are brave giving the shots to yourself. I don't think I could do that...doesn't mater because I have to have them given to me at the drs. per my ins. co. That is a great idea charting how you are doing on the computer. I think I'll do that. I seem to lose my memory when I get in drs off. myself. Thanks for the tips. Jean ---- Carpenter <cowtrail@...> wrote: > I got shots at the Dr.'s office when I first started.
