Guest guest
Doug, 60 mg for 5 days is very typical for an allergic reaction. I've have had to have it several times in the past on top of the Advair for reactions. Thanks to Xolair that is hopefully history too. Try having a 3 yr old very active child on Evil Candy. The mood swings are like a super ball bouncing in the house. Add that Benadryl wires him too and you can see why I am very eager to find out what has triggered his allergic reactions!! Unfortunately we need to wait until winter before we can take him off his Zrytec for 10 ten days. I had an online acquaintance who wanted to put her Failure to Thrive son on prednisone just to get him to gain weight! Didn't seem like a good idea to me... B. Man, I would have been on the floor even without the Pred. Whew! Decadron alone makes me bounce off the walls, break out in steroid acne makes my blood sugar and BP go through the roof and turns me into a very mean, angry person. I tell my doctors NEVER even consider giving it to me again. I consider myself allergic to it. Mom is bouncing off the walls today. Just imagine..... an 82 year old very little 95 pound woman like granny clampett kicking up her feet. That is what is going on at our house LOL! She is a HOOT! As I said before THANK GOD AND XOLAIR I don't have to take steroids anymore!!! Doug
Guest guest
I agree with you, Doug. Seems like a whopping dose of total steroids for anyone of average weight or even overweight, much less a 95-pound elderly woman. Hope your mom settle soon for all of your sakes! When she tries to occupy herself, she can't remember what she is doing and gets frustrated. She has this problem anyway but NEVER this bad. We have told her to stay OUT of the kitchen and away from the stove and sharp tools till she gets off the candy. Today and tomorrow, it's 50 mg, then 40 for 2 days, 30 for 2, 10 for 2 and then OFF!!! Pray for us, I will be doing all the cooking LOL! She is also a MILD asthmatic and uses a Combivent inhaler once a month at the most. (Must be nice) She should never have any asthma the rest of her life after this ton of candy. Doug
