Guest guest
Thanks Simone for that information, I just want people to be aware of what their site says. I am a respiratory therapist who recently had a patient almost die on thinking his advair was a rescue inhaler and took all 60 inhalations in one week to little to no relief. As much as doctors tell you, please educate yourselves on the effects and side effects of all medication. You are your best health care advocate. Ok Off my soap box. Sorry for the rant. Guest guest
Louise, here in Australia my daughter is on the Smart Plan were they use their Symbicort instead of their rescue puffer and unless their attack is really serious they use their rescue puffer first and I can tell you it actually cuts down the incidents of attacks to the point where Cheyenne was having trouble breathing every 2 hours and now shes down to using it 3x daily. Guest guest
advair, symbicort, and those steroidal sprays are not rescue inhalers, that is why I personally use the term 'cumulative' for you have to take them a while for them to have any effect in their system. I haven't used a rescue inhaler in years - there is some kind of propellent agent that puts me right into a coughing spasm - I could only use Proventil HFA. I have a small battery operated Omron microair ultrasonic nebulizer that I use when I'm away from home. The RT's that come to our house for my husband's sleep apnea machine reinforce that my omron is a much better way to treat intermittent spells and discourage the use of rescue inhalers. I will be off the steroids this weekend so I can get my flu shot next Thursday, and my fifth shot of Xolair on Nov. 15th. As I said, the past week I have felt surprisingly good despite the prednisone taper - either the Xolair is starting to kick in or the symbicort might actually be decent stuff. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
---I haven't used a rescue inhaler in years - there is some kind of propellent agent that puts me right into a coughing spasm ---- I am the same way. I have been using a neb instead for many years now. I have 3 neb machines. One home, one at the office and a small Pari I can use in the car and take while on the road. Also, I have found geat success with Pari Plus neb cup. They last longer and can be washed in the dishwasher. Xopenex HFA works better than the other rescue inhalers but Xopenex neb works great for me. I mix it with Atrovent. I add Pulmicort to the mix when the doc says I need it. I use the other X (xopenex) and also have the Omron microair ultrasonic nebulizer and I love it! I got it just in time for my honeymoon I have a plug in Pari and haven't used it since got the Omron in June. It so convenient I took it with me to the Springsteen concert I went to on Mon and Tues and could rock out in the pit knowing it was near by should I need it. When I have been really bad I have used Duoneb but it makes me shakier. uca79iii <bme1979@...> wrote: ---I haven't used a rescue inhaler in years - there is some kind of propellent agent that puts me right into a coughing spasm ---- I am the same way.
