Guest guest
Hi , This such positive news, good onya for making such a huge jump, I have just recently in the last week swapped the whole family over to a lactose free milk called Zymil, it tastes great its dairy with all the good nutrients but lactose free so now I'm looking for a lactose free cheese but it seems the only place I can find it is the Atherton Tablelands here in Australia, but I " m keeping my fingers crossed it helps my daughters asthma. Unfortunately here for us to see an Allergerist it's a 6 month waiting list to a guy 4hours away or a 2 year wait for our city hospital but I'm so glad diet has made such an impact on your life. Guest guest
Simone, Actually, lactose intolerance is not an allergy. It's due to a missing enzyme in the small intestine that digests lactose. When the enzyme is missing, the lactose goes undigested and unabsorbed into the colon where bacteria digest it, producing gas and varying degrees of abdominal discomfort. Lactose intolerance does not trigger allergic symptoms, including asthma. If you're concerned that milk may be a cuprit in your daughter's asthma, you can switch to rice milk (Rice Dream in the U.S.). Don't go to soy since about 50% of people allergic to cow's milk are allergic to soy as well. Or you could try soy, knowing that if her symptoms don't improve, the next step would be to go to rice milk. The trial off cow's milk would need to include avoidance of cheese, yoghurt, ice cream. Did she test positive to cow's milk on a skin test? If not, it is still worth a trial off it since skin tests do miss some allergies. Best of luck with all this, Fran > > > > Hi Everyone, > > > > I haven't posted for some time but I am still here. Guest guest
Hello, I didn't mean lactose intolerance. It is an ELISA reading of antibody reactions against individual foods Antigens. The summery of antibody reactions provides a summary as to the body's reactivity Allergy to individual foods. There are values which show the amount of reactivity. Mine antibodies are high to Gluten and Dairy plus a few other things. It reads: No Reaction 0-250, Low Reaction 251-450, Moderate Reaction 451-650, and High Reaction 651-3000. I am in the high range for the things I mentioned. This test was done by the National BioTech Laboratory in Seattle WA. 206-363-6606. I don't know if they are still in business but for those interested I am giving the info. In Hope,
