Guest guest Posted October 30, 2007 Report Share Posted October 30, 2007 the allergist who is administering Xolair wanted to give me a flu shot the same day, I declined and explained if I had a reaction to either I would not know from which. I also reminded him that I was still on prednisone and he said I needed to be off pred for five days before getting a flu shot. That's a scary thought, I have not been able to get down lower than 20mg alternating 5mg a day. So, I decided to dig out the latest and greatest drug sample that my pulmonologist gave me (anything that is new he passes on that I discard knowing my drug company has never even heard of it - like asmanex when it came out last year). Well, I had a month's worth of samples that I've been trying for the past ten days and I just might be able to manage a few days off the steroids... I feel pretty decent, actually better than I have in ages (maybe in combination with my fourth Xolair injection). The new trendy drug is called Symbicort and is budesonide 160 mcg/ formoterol fumate dihydrate 4.5 mcg and I do two puffs twice a day and rinse afterwards. The pulmonologist told me I would like this for it has cumulative effects (that most the sprays have) and it also has a quicker acting aspect so I would see relief in a shorter period of time than the cumulative ones.
