Guest guest
Skin problems were just mentioned. I have had four monthly injections of Xolair and am noticing skin changes - acne on my face, around my collarbone and chest area (that I did not have despite 30 years of being on evil candy); cuts not healing so quickly to the point where I considered going to a wound center (luckily the crack on my foot did close); and unusual bruising (I have always bruised on prednisone, but I seem to be bruising easier now). Are these usual side effects or should I be concerned? And in reference to the person who chose breathing over complexion, I do have to agree even though it means coverup sticks for when I do my public access tv show (and I've been using it quite a bit this past month). __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Joy - No these are not usual side effects and yes, I would be concerned. It's really important that you get checked out by your primary as it's much more likely to be something else going on than Xolair side effects. The slow healing and increased bruising are especially worrisome - please, please see your doc ASAP. Wishing the best for you - Fran > > Skin problems were just mentioned. Guest guest
It could still be the evil candy even after all these years...these effects are just now starting. Be smarter than spam. Guest guest
Hi again, Joy - Are you still on the evil candy? I was thinking the " 30 years of being on evil candy " were in the past. If you're still on it then certainly, as said, your symptoms could be well explained by it, although you should still be checked out ASAP for other possible explanations rather than just assuming the symptoms are due only to the evil candy. - Fran > > Skin problems were just mentioned. Guest guest
yes I am still on evil candy, after 28 years of on again, off again... haven't been able to get off at all in the past two years. You know what the turning point was for two years of steroids? I got stung by a bee and rushed to the emergency room two years ago in June. It stung me in the cartilidge between my nostrils. The whole lower part of my face swelled up, and I was pumped full of steroids and other things to keep from going into anaplyliptic (spelling?) shot. Since then, I have been unable to get down below alternate days of 20mg / 5mg. I feel unusually good right now. Confident I will be able to get off steroids long enough to get a flu shot next week - I don't know if it's from four Xolair injections or this new symbicort (which I find out costs $120 per unit, so that would be $240 a month and right now I'm in the donut hole of Medicare Rx... I will not be continuing this drug therapy after the samples run out). And I understand your using up your Advair, I was doing that previously but I never noticed any improvement so that is why after two years of continuous evil candy I decided to try the Xolair. It will be interesting to see how I feel after I've been off the evil candy for five days. My allergist probably would have given me both the Xolair and flu shot at the same time if I was not a newbie to Xolair and we are still watching for reactions. Main thing was he didn't want me on steroids when I got the flu shot. And the skin problem, I now remember what that is from. Every time I try to taper off the steroids I get a rash across the collarbone. I increase the steroids, the rash goes away. The pulmonoloigist has seen it, but it was cleared up by the time I got in to see a dermatologist because I was back on an increased dose of steroids. I've just been up on the steroids for so long I had forgotten about that merry go round. but I will let the doc know about the skin problems and bruising. __________________________________________________
