Guest guest
Thanks, Ohlde! We must be on the same track here - several months ago we ditched our old semlly over-the-hill Panasonic upright (was great when we bought it) and also bought a Eurkea Boss. It's really great about sucking up the dirt in the carpet (almost sucks the pictures off the wall <grin>) which was great for we allergic asthmatic people. Apparently it's very important to change the bag at HALF FULL, though, and not wait until it fills up. My hubby let it fill up and that probably was a great contributor to the problem. I've wondered somewhat about taking it apart partially to clean it although the last time he used it (w/new bag) he said there wasn't any odor. Of course, I have a nose like a bloodhound - well, very sensitive, anyway. Also, I just ordered a 4 month supply of bags in the hope my hubby will be less stingy about changing the bag! I also just ordered a Eureka Mighty Mite 3684 D (the last letter makes a difference in the model) which is a little canister vacuum we will use for cleaning the car and some vacuuming of vinyl & tiled floors sometimes. We ordered the high filtration vacuum bags (NO MORE BAG- FREE VACS FOR ME!). Since it's not the " main " vacuum I didn't want to spend a lot of money on it. I ended up ordering it from " allergybegonedotcom " . I'll let you know how it works out after I've used it a few times. It's much cheaper than the higher end canister vacs but got very good reviews. The old one that made the car smell so bad went straight to the trash. I felt wasteful but my health is important, too. Besides it had seen nasty duty for 5-6 years. Thanks to the folks who mentioned the other allergy website where they recommend vacs - that's part of the way I got to this one. I'm hoping my hubby will be somewhat " judicious " in what he sucks up with it! We've talked about it. And, if this one smells, I swear I'm going to tape it all upw/duct tape!!!!! Thx! P.S. Obviously there was some mistake in the great scheme of things - I should have been born wealthy so I wouldn't have to worry about asthma and sinus attacks from vacuuming!!!!! <wink> > > Hi instdesgn1 - A lot of people buy bagless vacs because they're touted to be so clean - no messy bags, etc. However, I read a report in Consumer Reports showing they don't do the job in re filtration as well as conventional cleaners. We bought a conventional Eureka Boss for about $135 and couldn't be more pleased - has a hepa pleated discharge filter in addition to the bag - beats hell out of our $350 Hoover which resides in the garage for vacuuming the car. > > Ohldepharte >
