Guest guest
Well I gained 15 pounds right away when I started the shots but I seem to have it under control now. I started following the South Beach diet, at least the basic ideas of the diet, and have lost that 15 plus 5 more. Plus I go to the gym 5 times a week. But there are many on this board that have had no problem with weight gain at all. I think only a couple of us have really had a problem. Maybe we were just susceptible to weight gain anyway. I know that I have always struggled with fat! But it really piled on quickly when I started the shots. Other than that and the feeling of exhaustion I get for a few weeks afterwards the shots have been great. I have cut out most of my other meds and being around things that would have triggered an allergy/asthma attack in the past now pose now problem. I have been painting the downstairs in my house and all the chemicals and fumes don't bother me bit. Even when I accidentally inhaled a big cloud of drywall dust. I just coughed for a few minutes and took a puff on my rescue inhaler and that was that. Kept moving right along. Don't be scared. I think when you starting thinking that things are going to be a problem they often are. Just think about how great your life is going to be in a few months once you start taking the shots. Just remember that it is important to take care of yourself in all areas of your health and you will see a dramatic improvement in your life. Guest guest
WElcome - please read the FAQ in the " files " section. The link to the files should be on the left hand side of your screen. You will find a lot of helpful, basic info there, including some discussion of possible side effects. I have not experienced any side effects at all, and I've been on Xolair nearly 4 years. Guest guest
Thanks for the Info. I did read the side effects but I was mainly looking to see if anyone had anything additional to add verses what the manufacturer states. I feel that sometimes people will experience things outside of that and I wanted to consider this in my quest for learning more. Thanks. pyle456 <coachmac@...> wrote: WElcome - please read the FAQ in the " files " section. The link to the files should be on the left hand side of your screen. I must admit, I was apprehensive when I had my first shots in September 2003. Back then, the drug was brand new and just out of the FDA Trials. I was the first asthmatic in the state to get it. there was no xolair group or board so I started this one I have now had over 100 xolair shots (2 ever 2 weeks) with NO SIDE EFFECTS, PAIN OR DISCOMFORT WHATSOEVER! Nada, zip and zilch! REGULAR allergy shots hurt much worse and I have had those since 1960. As for weight gain, I lost 35 pounds since being on Xolair! The xolair had nothing to do with my weight loss. I lost by being able to go off off the Evil Candy (Prednisone) and by diet and exercise. My family doctor said I had become type II Diabetic from all the years of taking the Candy. This really got me dieting and on the treadmill!!! My advice to everyone has always been to TRUST YOUR DOCTOR! If you are still apprehensive about taking Xolair, you always have the choice not to take it. Once again, thanks for joining Doug Group founder
