Guest guest
I think you're right about the cookie jar being the main reason, but also doctors don't want to get sued if something does happen when at home. When I get my shots monthly, I have to pay a $40 copay, which is $20 for the doctor visit and $20 for the " chemotherapy. " That is a real joke to me because my doctor refuses to see me so I hate paying his fee. All I see is the LPN who administers the shots. She is excellent and is the only reason I keep going there. In fact, she sees me at 7:30 a.m. and I wait 15 minutes. That allows me to get to work at a reasonable time. I pay separately for the medication through Caremark, which mails it to the doctor's office. My doctor " fired " me because I refused to take Advair. He turned my care over to a pulmonologist who doesn't know anything about Xolair but who agrees with me that I don't need to be on Advair because I only have to use a rescue inhaler about once every 2-3 months since Xolair. When my allergist " fired " me, he had a major meltdown and stormed out of the office. The really odd thing is that at an earlier appointment we had discussed my stopping Advair and he said he didn't agree but to try it if I wanted. I hate that I have to keep funding his practice, but I don't know anywhere else to go for the shots. Carol Doug wrote: I order my Xolair myself though Medco Specialty Pharmacy and pay the deductible. They ship the Xolair and all needles, mixing stuff etc... to his office. Then, his office charges 114.00 each to give me the shots and files them as " Chemotherapy Injections. " (90%Covered by insurance, whew) Personally, I think that the medical group that owns his practice just wants their hands in the cookie jar a little deeper. I have never had cancer in my life!!
