My doc charges just $20 to administer the Xolair injection, which I think is reasonable and fair enough since I occupy an exam room and take up nursing time when I receive Xolair. I think $114 is outrageous. But the " chemotherapy " charge doesn't imply it's cancer-related, we just associate the word with cancer treatment. The category of chemotherapy simply is what covers injectable drugs under Medicare. There are other drugs that are not for cancer therapy that are covered in the same category. I don't know about other insurance.
