Hello Everyone,

I had my 4th injection last Wednesday. I am already noticing a big

difference. I wish there was a way to test my IGE level now that I have

been on X. My Doctor told me that the only way is to isolate the 'floating'

IGE's and that is not possible. He said that they are only doing it in

research labs. I do find that about 2-3 days before I'm due for my

injection, I start getting allergy symptoms again. Is this common with

everyone?

I hope everyone had a healthy and happy Thanksgiving!

Yep. I had a good week, as I hope everyone else did. We went to South Padre

with our daughter and son and his family for Thanksgiving. It turned cold the

night we got in. I walked outside (bundled of course) several times in the

cold, windy wet weather, and did not have to use my inhaler but about twice the

whole time down there! Yes, we had an enjoyable time even though it was too

cold to go swimming or to play in the waves and look for shells.

I have had a cough all month, but the last two weeks it has been very much

better. It is close to time for my next xolair shot.

Hope all stay reasonably well during the next few weeks and the coming

holidays.

I just noticed I signed with my nickname--from my middle name--that by which I

have been called by family and close friends for almost 70 years. I guess after

a year of posting on here and using my first name on all the posts, I can be

allowed one slip! Just wanted you all to know that Adah and Gay are one and the

same person--a rose by any other name???? ;-)

LOL, no problem :) In another health group, I am known as " The

Professional Eye Patient "

Adah,

MAYBE you can you blame it on the large amounts of

triptophane you consumed over the Thanksgiving

Holiday?? LOL!!!

You must have been in the kitchen doing the dishes

while everyone else was snoozing in front of the TV,

so you still had " excess " amount of it in your

system!....yep...that's my story and I'm sticking to

it! LOL!!

Ok...now in all seriousness here. My husband is from

the UK, so we are ALWAYS checking the news over

across the " pond " . Over the weekend there were two

very interesting articles about Xolair in the UK on

the BBC website. One was a patient's story, the other

is about the NHS approval of Xolair. Meaning all of

the UK is approved to get Xoalir through their

National Health Service. The person getting Xolair

will only have to pay 13 quid( British pound

sterling), which is like $26 a month!!!

If anyone is interested in reading up on the articles

you can go to www.bbc.co.uk and do a search under

Health. OR if it's ok with Doug.....I can find the

links and post them here ( yes?!)

Ok by me! It deals with xolair so POST AWAY :)

Thanks for the explanation--I just chalked it up to my aging mind and not enough

" endorphins? "

We went to South Padre Island--as far south as one can go in Texas without

going into Mexico--for Thanksgiving and the hotel we stayed at catered

Thanksgiving Dinner for us. So I really had a holiday--no cleaning up the house

for guests--no cooking--and no dishes to clean up! It was cold--very windy--but

we enjoyed just being together as a family--Oh, we went with our daughter and

our son and his family. We enjoyed not having to meet a schedule each day. It

was really a nice get away even if the weather did not cooperate while we were

there.

Speaking of articles on xolair, there is quite a long article on xolair in the

San Express News today. It can be accessed by going to mysa.com web

site. It really doesn't say anything different than what we have discussed

here, but at least it hit the newspapers and let people know there is a drug

out there for allergic asthmatics. It did give the story of one family whose

life was run by how many times they had to take their son to the ER and how

protective they had to be of him. Very similar to many of the experiences

related by people on this site. After 10 mos. on xolair the 13 year old is now

able to play sports including soccer! The mother testified that it had really

changed their lives for the better! I was glad to see the article in the paper.

Hope all had a safe and restful Thanksgiving breathing easy.
