Guest guest
Oh, I hope NOT! I have a sort've subset of BCBS and have been on Xolair since March this year. I definitely could not afford to pay for it myself! I have traditionally found a very " ho-hum, yeah you've got asthma " attitude among doctors and this is something I don't need. There needs to be a distinction made between people who have occasional allergy symptoms and those of us who MUST be on high powered drugs all the time because our alternative is potentially death and at the least inability to live anywhere near a normal life. If this does come about, I wonder if there's someplace we could protest? Let's face it, most of us don't get health care without insurance and as usual insurance is playing Russian Roulette with our health! My insurance stopped paying for Allegra ... and I have an IgE of 409. They don't pay for meds based on how well the med performs but rather on how many people are using it. The more people who use a med, then the more likely they are to drop it. Probably more drugs of a similar nature will come along ... but then the insurance companies can refute those too! Why don't they get rid of substandard doctors who refuse good care to complex cases ? __________________________________________________
