Guest guest
Has your doctor considered adjusting your dose? I initially started on 150 per month and it worked some of the time. We increased to 150/75 every two weeks and it made a huge difference. Is that an option? It worked for a year and half, giving me my life back, but the hives and angiodema (swelling) returned in full force. I had suffered with debilitating full body hives for over a year until Xolair came along. After my third shot, I stopped hiving until December of 2007 (I still had occasional red spots show up during exercise). Then, out of thin air, I started to become unresponsive to Xolair. I'm a 29 year old male and have dealt with this autoimmune condition for three years. To have my one saving grace taken away from me kind of leaves me hopeless; so I'm just venting. --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search. Guest guest
I've actually been on 300 mg every two weeks (600 per month); so the only thing I could do is go up to 375. Unfortunately, I don't think that will work. Plus, I'm on this for non-IgE related urticaria. Somehow, when I first started taking Xolair, it was downregulating the IgE receptors to which autoantibodies binded and released histamine. Now, that process has been stopped - probably because my body adapted. I was one of the few people who was approved to get Xolair injections > for chronic urticaria (hives). Guest guest
Wow, Lior, what a shame. Will your allergist consider a trial of Xolair at an increased dose? Guest guest
I agree about trying an increased dose. > > > > I was one of the few people who was approved to get Xolair injections > > for chronic urticaria (hives). Guest guest
Hi: What does your doctor say, why did it stop working? Guest guest
He has no idea. Autoimmune and other chronic conditions seem to be able to adapt and make previously effective medication totally useless. I went up to 450 mg. today, but I am not holding my breath. I might have to try IVIG next or Cellcept (immunosuppressant). > > > > > > I was one of the few people who was approved to get Xolair > injections > > > for chronic urticaria (hives).
