Greetings from Australia all,

Cheyenne has finally come home after a 25 day stay in hospital for her

allergy/asthma and depression, unfortunately this time of year being

our winter people are burning back and getting ready for a really hot

summer so the air pollution is very high, well to cut to the chase I

ran into Cheyenne's Lung Specialist yesterday being her first day back

after a long overdue holiday, she had said that the amount of

prednisolone Cheyenne is on is ridicules and wants her off it

immediately and while she was in hospital she had a bone density test

and all they told me was it was compromised but the best news is we

have an appointment with said Lung Specialist on the 8th August to get

her IgE levels done as Cheyenne would qualify for the Xolair trial

through the Thoracic Society of Australia and her specialist also said

she has considered it quite a few times for Cheyenne but she hasn't

been well enough to go ahead with it so Cheyenne and I are very

excited about it, I really believe it will be good for her.

Your lung doc is tapering Cheyenne off the pred, right??? Cutting

high doses cold turkey can cause a number of problems.

Cheyenne does sound like an excellent candidate for Xolair. I got to

start " sick " meaning in the middle of an infection/flare (but without

fever, of course), but they may have very strict protocols for what

type of shape a patient is in when she starts.

Sending you a " hey, y'all " back from the southern US and best wishes

for Cheyenne to be well and reasonably asthma free soon,

Addy

Hi Addy,

They are weening her off now she has 37.5mg for a week, 25mg for a week,

5mg for a week then stop, unfortunately because of the side affects they

can't do it any faster.
