Guest guest
interesting. i have recently reduced my prednisone level to around 12 mg split into 2 doses of 6 and i am experiencing nausea. <carrie72583@...> wrote: Hi! So all of us have battled the evil pred. I think there should be a rule about two ppl in the same family being on it at once. Should not be allowed. I seem to recall someone posted re: nausea and taste change while on pred. I never had it but my mom who is like on 12.5 mg a day is very nauseated and has a nasty taste in her mouth. She thinks its from the phelegm she is hacking up (she is copd recovering from a pneumonia) but I am at a loss as what to do since she really can't afford to lose weight. She is on nystatin for fungus but it is not super crazy at the moment (unlike her kid who is evolving life at the back of her throat....). The nausea seems to come and go. Any ideas or remedies you want to share?? Hug! (who is now officially fed up of pred, fed up of winter and beginning a midlife crisis on the day before her 31st birthday) ____________________________________________________ Canada Toolbar: Search from anywhere on the web, and bookmark your favourite sites. Guest guest
So sorry you're both on the evil candy at the same time! And especially that your mom is feeling so poortly. One thought I have about the nausea is that pred can irritate the stomach lining, so she might try Tums or another antacid to see if it settles. But first she needs to let her doc know what's going on and ask if antacids interfer with any of her meds. For the nasty taste in her mouth sugar- free mint gum may help. Guest guest
I also recently had a prob when tapering I had started on 30 and was tapering by 5 mg it started when I tapered from 10 to 5mgs to none. So per my doc I went back on 5 mg then tapered to 2.5 then off and I think I' m all better. I called her cause I wasn't sure if it was caused by adrenal issues. Guest guest
Yes, I had a terrible time with nausea and taste changes, too. Actually I had this horrible metal taste in my mouth all the time. Anyway, they finally switched me over to medrol instead of prednisone. It's still a steroid, basically the same thing - I'm not a pharmacist so I can't tell you the exact difference, sorry. Anyway, my nausea improved and the horrible taste in my mouth went away. Good luck. Peggy Hi! > > So all of us have battled the evil pred. I think there > should be a rule about two ppl in the same family > being on it at once. Guest guest
Really, I suspect the Nystatin very strongly. I'm on it - have been for 12 days and it always leaves a long term bitter nasty taste in my mouth. It tastes like I had been sucking on cardboard (we tried that kind of stuff when I was a kid) Now I find myself chewing strong flavored gum (like cinnamon) and eating little chocolate bites. Brushing teeth and tongue helps some. Or, if glucose is not a problem, sucking on a strong flavored candy or a candy with artificial sweetner. > > Hi! > > So all of us have battled the evil pred.
