Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I receive my Xolair at my PCP's office, and about a month ago when I had my yearly physical my doctor mentioned that I was due for 3 vaccinations, but she wasn't sure if they would be OK with my Xolair, the steroids I'm on and all the other meds I take, so she had me clear it with my pulmo/allergist. When I asked him about it he said that there doesn't seem to be any ill-effects and as far as the studies have shown thus far receiving the vaccines (TDap, HepA & HPV) with Xolair shouldn't make the vaccines or the Xolair any less effective. I receive 375mg/2wks. of Xolair, and received the Xolair and the vaccines (6 shots was lots of fun I felt like a pin-cushion) all yesterday. The Xolair was done first and I guess I had forgotten how 'easy' other shots are b/c I didn't even feel the vaccines. My PCP even said 'wow I guess I can't do hand strengthening excercises for these!'. My PCP is used to giving my my Xolair, which I'm sure you all know is very thick and my dr jokes all the time with me that I am responsible for her exceedingly strong hands (b/c she has to push so hard on the syringe plunger to give me Xolair). Anyway I was up most of the night because my Xolair 'aches' a lot more than usual. I have come up with a theory as to why my Xolair injection sites hurt so much more and I have no idea if this is how things work but, my theory is that my immune system has prioritized and is dealing with the vaccines (which hardly hurt at all) and has basically kept the Xolair in it's initial place and has not 'dealt with' the Xolair yet. I have no idea if this is how the immune system actually works but it certainly sounds plausible to me. I was just wondering has any one else received other shots at the same time as Xolair (I was thinking about it and I haven't even had my flu vaccine at the same time as X)? Thanks for any info anyone can provide, Meagan
