Once upon a time I had an obsession with thyroid symptoms. I wondered if it was a coincidence if the words costo-chondri-tis looked a bit like the word hypo-chondri-ac. One definition of hypochondriac from dictionary.com - " Anatomy Relating to or located in the hypochondrium. " So, hypochondriac, is probably referring to that cartilage that hurts in costochondrits. A lot of hypos have this chest pain. (Broda mentioned it, Shomon one time said " costochondritis is commonly associated with hypothyroidism " , she called it " cutting edge knowledge at the time, but I can't find it on her website any more. Anyway, in those obsessed days, I wondered if the origin of the meaning of the hypochondriac had something to do with the fact that those people with pain in that region seemed to have so many different things with their health, that eventually doctors just started calling people with a multitude of symptoms " hypochondriacs " and saying " It's all in your head. " Of course, in the olden days when the word was originated, maybe they knew how to cure it. Supposedly, the Chinese did this before Christ - http://www.canaryclub.org/content/view/306/67/ Traditional Chinese Medicine tells us that long ago the Chinese used to make thyroid soup as a tonic for people who struggled with energy and malaise. I have posted on stop the thyroid madness since March or April with all of my tests since then. I have done most. I willl try to post them here. Forgive me I have posted my test results so many times I hardly can do it again. Thank you to everyone. I am so tired...even doctors are kicking me out of there offices. I can hardly find a doctor that will work with me for any length of time. Most of the doctors have not ever seen symtoms as bad as mine. I was told by one that he only had one patient he could not help and she had lyme disease but I don't. Do you mind reading some of my other post Diagnosed with Hashimoto's Ellen > > > > I have been posting concerning all my issues with dianoses of hashi's > > and not getting stabalized since March. Guest guest
Most of what I've read indicates a 2:1 ratio is best for Calcium:Magnesium... By that theory you should be taking 3,200 mg of calcium with that. Is that much is in your multivitamin? -LanaOn 12/14/06, mem_mem_me <maryellenmu@... > wrote: I am taking gynovite from optimox multi vitamins for menapausal women. Guest guest
OK, you are sounding like I have felt this last week... barely able to function and in so much pain I wanted to scream, but that only makes it worse. So you climb into yourself and just wish for the life that you used to have. I really have very limited time from now until after Christmas, and I have felt so really awful myself I haven't been on the BB's a whole lot lately, but you need encouragement and some help. It's too bad when we can't count on our docs to help, but the truth is, if we want to be well, we must take our health into our own hands. " Patient heal thyself " . This is my suggestion, and it's easy. Become a member of the Graves Support group on graves_support/ , introduce yourself and post those labs. If you've already posted them here or on thyroid madness, they will be in the archives so you can just cut and paste them into a new message at the Graves site instead of having to push all those little keys again. The reason I point you in that direction is because of the people there that are so GOOD at reading various labs and making recommendations that make the docs scratch their heads and say " why didn't I think of that? " . Most there know more than their docs, and care because they've been there and truly understand not only the mechanics of metabolic disorder, but what it feels like to live inside a body that has a metabolic problem. With graves we deal with hypER and hypO issues among so many others (each system in our bodies depends on the others), so everyone there has been on both sides of the coin. The author Elaine who is considered a thyroid guru visits there often. When in doubt, put her name in the subject line somewhere and she will take the time to read your post and tell you what her opinion is based on the info you give in that post. Just try to be as complete as you can and give her a day or two to get to it- she's a busy lady, but she's there because she truly cares. If nothing else, you have added more to your list of friends and people willing to help you dig into this to figure it all out one by one, and get you healthy again. Remember patience plays such a huge role as well. Treating metabolic issues is all about patience..... that and more patience. I so hope you have a better day today. Take a nap and attack this when you feel the energy to do it is there. Don't let those docs get you down. They are pre-occupied with their own " stuff " and forget that we are out here suffering. They just have no clue what you are going thru. Most don't really care. They want to deal with the easy stuff, not the hard stuff. There are a few out there who really like solving puzzles. The trick is finding one. In the meantime, there are others out there who can help get you on track. We on these boards will not forget you and know what it is like to suffer.... Attenolol is not good for hypothyroid people. I have an irregular heart beat and a rapid pulse (thanks to synthroid for almost 22 years and way too high a dose for some of that time). Lopressor helps me a lot. What are your minerals looking like? Do you know? When I started taking Magnesium, some of the arrythmias that I have got much better. I haven't had hardly any chest pain in a month or more (which is really a miracle for me.) B.

Guest guest
Yep, I had this many nights. I had two or three normal EKGs and was told it was anxiety. Haven't and any since explant though... It isn't fun and very scarey. I am sorry you are going through this. Breathing exercises, hot Epson salt baths and sleepy time tea helped - plus try to reduce all stress. I hope you get explanted soon. Lynn Chest pains Hi, For the past couple of days I've experienced some chest pains only on the left side of my chest. I was so scared I went to the emergency room and my ekg came out fine. Has anyone else experienced this and does it go away with explant? I have GERD, and it turned out to be heartburn, but please keep notes on these symptoms. Many of my symptoms did get worse after explant, but I am doing better now. Guest guest
Hi Stephie- I am new to the forum so can't give you any advice but I just wanted to let you know that I started experiencing strange chest pains (only on my left side) around the time that this whole ordeal began. I went to the ER because I had recently been diagnosed with stage 2 hypertension and thought maybe I was having signs of a heart attack. My electrocardiogram, chest x-rays, blood tests all came back fine. Then, about a week or two later my left implant deflated. I had it replaced but have not been able to get rid of the left side chest pain and now it is all over left side pain. I am hoping that after explantation my left side pain will finally go away. Good luck and keep us posted! ~Krista --- In , " stephie0580 " <stephie0580@...> wrote: > > Hi, For the past couple of days I've experienced some chest pains only > on the left side of my chest. Guest guest
I'm hoping that mine will go away too after explant. I have my consult scheduled for Friday so I can't wait for this to be over. I've spoken to a few people who have told me that once they were explanted the pains did go away. > > > > Hi, For the past couple of days I've experienced some chest pains only > > on the left side of my chest. Guest guest
Lynn, honey, I would not be so sick if I had known that the implants were killing me. Women who have these devices never think that it could be the implants that are causing their problems. Many women call me and tell me that they are not sick; however, when I start asking questions, they tell me that they have heart problems and a lot of joint pain. They claim that these symptoms are from old age, and they are in their early 40s. You can complain all you want, that is whay we have this group. Many of us have lost all of our family and friends over these devices. Guest guest
I think it depends on whether they do a chest x ray pre op and what they find. I didn't have a chest x ray before explant surgery. Wasn't required. I have nasal and chest congestion every day... bad allergies and post nasal drip. They knew that and could see me coughing morning of surgery and during pre op. It didn't stop my surgery. Now.. however... I am trying to get cleared for a surgical biopsy... different doctor, different state and hospital. They required a chest x ray before surgery which came back abnormal. I have since gone to a pulmonary specialist and had lung tests to determine if my lung functioning is within the normal range. I did the tests today. They are within normal range so I think I'll get cleared for my now rescheduled surgery.. Long story short. It probably depends on place, hospital doctor and pre-op requirements. If you tell them you have chest pains and congestion they may want to do additional tests before surgery. Keep us posted. --- In , " stephie0580 " <stephie0580@...> wrote: > > Hi, Did anyone have a hard time getting cleared for surgery with these > chest pains? But yes, women have had chest pain - and a lot more. Can you make any association to your chest pain and environmental exposures? . . . I became chemically sensitive after getting implants . . . chest pain was part of the picture. Hugs and prayers, Rogene
