Hi, I just had my 3rd Xolair shot after suffering from asthma all my

life. I really havent had a bad incident since I started but I usually

get really bad in the months of August - December so I am crossing my

fingers.

I recently been feeling alot of anxiety associated chest pains, High

Pulse and Blood Pressure. I dont understand this because I have lost

24lbs since I started on Xolair. I havent had to take prednisone since

then. I am feeling great other than that at least from an asthma

perpective. Has this happened to anyone???

Any input is helpful..thanks,

Jeannie

Yes, that happened to me; after any number of tests they diagnosed me

with High BP, most likely due to all the prednisone I've had to take

over time.

I have been on Xolair now for 3 years and I also have developed high blood

pressure with anxiety which I have never had a problem with either. I am 47

years old, overweight and I take advair and estrogen, and xyzal, i have been

able to cut all asthma meds in half since I started xolair. I am concerned that

with all the cardiovascular hipe/findings on the previous xolair study I am

beginning to wonder if this may be part of the results they were in reference

too. I am concerned and would like to know if there has been anyone else who

has developed any cardiovascular issues since starting xolair.

I would be interested to see the study on xolair/heart issues because soooo many

of us have been on other black box meds such as symbicort/advair, etc. PLUS oral

steriods such as Prednisone.

I even wonder if there is anyone at all on xolair who has never been on

Prednisone or the other inhaled meds?

Hi Leigh et al.,

The criteria for eligibility for xolair are that you have moderate-severe asthma

that is not satisfactorily controlled with inhaled and/or systemic steroids.

Thus, everyone should have been on either. Oh and the perennial aeroallergens as

well....

Many of us have cardiovascular problems that are likely independent of all our

black box meds. Chronic and uncontrolled asthma can cause right-sided heart

strain, hypertrophy etc and even albuterol as a beta-agonist has been linked to

hypertension.

Thus, it is really more likely due to the population that xolair targets that

these findings are arising rather than anything about xolair per se given its

mechanism of action.

I've never taken prednisone. My reaction to inhaled steroids like Advair is so

severe, there's no way I could ever take an oral steroid. But I'm certainly the

exception and not the norm.

Leigh, did you receive an anti-fungal? Candida can mutate and become resistant

to nystatin and all the azole class of medications. They should be treating it

since it is a) gross B) painful and c) can become systemic and cause huge

problems.

(who has been labeled the fungus factory by her ID doctor)

,

I am on sporonox since monday and nystatin.

If this does not work, my doctor will probably put me back on micafungin iv

therapy.

And I have huge problems.

What has your id doctor done for you in the past...diflucan was not appearing to

be working but then again, who knows

Mine probably is systemic after all the lower g i flushes which I have received

since mid-January. I understand those sorts of things can cause candida to

really spread.

Thanks and sorry you had this issue.
