Guest guest
I did a little over a year ago but it was for several months, not a year. Also, it was for fibromyalgia, not asthma. I didn't like the med (I'm sure I had the real thing) - had significant side effects. I felt under pressure to continue with the drug even though it did not help me. I also felt strongly that research studies are for the benefit of the researcher and the drug company. Subsequently I've looked at asthma/copd studies but have never gone on w/them because (a) I can't stop using albuterol and advair w/o serious consequences ( I'm not going to stop taking Xolair © the drugs they were using sounded dangerous (d) my weight and bp and age would probably rule me out One study did bring me in touch with a good pulmo, though, so sometimes something good can happen. Hope it will for you if you choose to go on. > > has anyone ever participated in a double blind placebo study? > one lasting for 52 weeks? what is it like? >
Guest guest
I also found that after a year and a half on Xolair 375 mgs every 2 weeks that I did not seem to be responding as well. It was almost like I built up a " tolerance " to Xolair and it did not control the asthma as much. My PFT also got much worse. I've built up tolerances to other meds and even such everyday chemicals as deodorants so I figured this must fall into the same type of reaction. I never noticed getting the shots and then feeling much better. It was a very gradual improvement that sort've more or less stayed at an approximately same level that helped for a year. > > Hey all! Great to see so much activity on the site. I was a frequent participant in the past, and still read the posts from time to time. What a great clearing-house for information. Thanks Doug and Addy for keeping this site going. > > I was prompted to review the postings after reading the concerns about Xolair and a possible link to heart attacks and strokes. Like some of you, I have been on Xolair since 2003 and have had only good results from the treatment. I have not had any noticable complications with my heart, and if anything, I am certainly in better health than I was six years ago because I am able to do so many more things than before. > > One thing I seem to have noticed is that when I have my monthly Xolair injections, they don't seem to be as " potent " as they used to be, nor do they last as long. I get one injection per month, and by the time I am ready for my next injection, believe me I am ready. Not struggling like before, mind you, but still not as clear as I seem to remember myself being several years ago. > > Just curious if anyone has had similar results. > > Thanks. > > Greg >
Guest guest
When I started taking Xolair I noticed a marked improvement in my asthma symptoms within 24 to 48 hours of taking my shot. Now I don't get that feeling. I need to see my allergist soon and will discuss this with him. Thanks! Greg > > > > Hey all! Great to see so much activity on the site.
