Guest guest
It sounds like sinus pressure, due to congention in the sinuses. It might be an infection you should see an Otolaringologist. There is a lot of air pollution and tree pollen around. With that said, my nose is not stuffed at all. BUT I have really big pain behind my eyeballs (it hurts to look left and right) and my face hurts beside my nose. I am taking tylenol, advil, cappucinos (for the caffeine) and I started sinus rinsing despite having little secretions. Does this sound like a sinus infection/headache from pollen? I have not added a decongestant but I will get an OTC one today (forgetting about my small blood pressure problem.....) Thanks for your input everyone! Guest guest
it sounds like it could be a sinus problem - and it seems as though you're doing all the right stuff. do you have any upcoming appts where someone could toss you some antibiotics? the other thing it could be (only mentioning it b/c it was my problem once) is that you're clenching your teeth at night in your sleep. apparently, i do this from time to time (usually during times of stress) and it hurts like a sinus infec would - i actually saw the ENT thinking it was an infec. hope you feel better!! h > Hi! > > I count myself as lucky that I do not get sinus > infections or headaches regularly. My ENT in 1994 recommended I have my nasal septum straightened. I had him do that and I hardly every have sinus probs anymore. HOWEVER............ we must always remember that all of us are different. I too highly suggest that you get an appointment with an ENT. I used to clinch my teeth at night too. My dentist fitted me with and NTI device. http://www.nti-tss.com/veneers.html I am doing great now. Guest guest
Allergies lead to sinus infections evidently. I thought I was on EVERY kind of me (zyrtec, a decongestant, nasal sprays, atarax, xolair and then all my asthma stuff) so when the pollen really began to soar about 3-4 wks ago (here in NY), I figured I was covered, yeah no. I got soooooooooooo congested from the allergies but thought it was just allergies and there was really nothing more to do. I was apparently so congested that the congestion kind of had a party in my face. I called my allergist and was like " What do I do? " and based on what I told him - he diagnosed a sinus infection and put me on 3 wks of Vantin. I got more congested after starting the Vantin, so I saw my MD, and he switched the Vantin to Clindamycin. I saw my allergist again yesterday and he can still (10 days after changing to Clinda) tell that I have an infection. So I'm supposed to be on the Clinda for 3 wks. I have an appointment see a new ENT next week (this one specializes in allergic sinus disease) and I'm going to ask him if we should straighten my nasal septum (years ago I was told it was deviated but I was like 10 years old so they wouldn't fix it). Also, I think this is more preventative than anything else and you have to really not think about how gross it is but I am like addicted to Sinus Rinse (a lot of companies have versions of it). Its a high volume saline rinse, that is quite gross but it has allowed me to breathe over these past few weeks. So I use it now (on avg. 2x/day) and it has helped a lot! Like I said, its not going to make a sinus infection go away once it's already there, but it can hopefully prevent a recurrence. FYI - under treated allergies can cause problems! Guest guest
- that's typically how my sinus infections start - with a locus of infection in one sinus cavity that doesn't leave me clogged up but brings pain to that area. Sometimes it can take 2-3 days before my nose is stuffy.... Addy > > Hi! > > I count myself as lucky that I do not get sinus > infections or headaches regularly. Guest guest
This is very interesting. I thought snot came first. I am learning things every day! A girl at work is dating an ENT resident and he said to go to emerg as I might need a scan of my face so if I cannot track down my doctor or a suitable facimile, I will go in tomorrow. On the upside, I am sob again so maybe I can speed up the line in triage.... C ps Now my ears are all clogged and ringy with my headache. Does that seem to fit the bill with the sore eye balls??? Maybe I have fungus in my sinuses.....yum. __________________________________________________________________ Ask a question on any topic and get answers from real people. Guest guest
Sometimes my first symptom of sinus infection is my right ear getting clogged. That's cause my focus of infection is usually in the right sinus cavity closest to my ear (no, I don't remember the name of it), and the inflammation continues into my ear canal. All this without any mucus output, as the mucus just gets trapped by the inflammation and gets infected. , are you rinsing your sinuses? Addy Who's had more apologies from ENTs who can't find anything wrong except allergies than she can count. > > > > This is very interesting. I thought snot came first. Guest guest
Addy, This whole thing about sinuses is very bizarre. I was rinsing my sinuses with the Neilmed system when this started but then my ear got clogged so I figured I was leaving liquid or whatever behind. It happened once or twice like 2 hours after rinsing that clear rinse fluid would just pour out my schnoz like a bleeding nose, leaving me to conclude that stuff was stuck in there. On Thursday, my right ear was super clogged, I then got so dizzy I couldn't walk or drive, my mom had to carry me home almost (this is the woman with lung CA), I barfed once and felt immediately better. My GP checked my ears and said they were fine but I do still have pressure over my lower sinues. The migraine meds help a bit (I took one at 1AM last night but I was freaking out a bit that this was the beginning of a migraine career for me). This AM I just feel a bit sore, kinda hung over but no pain per se. I go back to my GP tomorrow to get the results of the sinus xrays. I am betting it won't show much. I don't have a current ENT so I wonder how long it will take to get into seeing one. I also wonder if maybe it is fungus and not bacterial (would make sense since the crud lives in my mouth, why wouldn't it migrate to my sinuses??). Thanks for your input, it makes me feel more normal to hear your story esp that you are not all snotted up. C ps It is weird, I am kinda afraid to leave my house or do anything as I don't want the pain to start up again...I am not like that with my lungs....they can do what they want! __________________________________________________________________ Looking for the perfect gift?
