I had no problem with donating blood in February. But Xolair is now in the

book as a medicine that requires I not donate while on it and I need to wait

3 months after stopping before I can donate.

I wonder if different blood banks and hospitals have different requirements?

I'm just going to assume that  different rules apply for different blood

donation centers.  Some area's can be a bit more " pickier " with what they

receive in donations.

After I went on Xolair, I did  a bit of research about donating blood here in

the " Metro NY Region " .  I actually called our local donation center and spoke to

a " higher up " who is also an MD. They took my name and number and double checked

to make sure.  I have been told that I can donate blood while on Xolair, as long

as I am NOT having " asthmatic symptoms. "

I was able to donate blood in June, American Red Cross in Indiana. I also

donated two years ago, a different organization, I was also on pred at the

time. I was very surprised that I could donate, both groups have a very small

list of meds that exclude donation.
