Guest guest
I'm getting frustrated w/ my little dog. I know I won't be able to tell you enough to help me fix this problem but I'm kinda desperate cuz I know this isn't right. She is raw fed mainly, but I did buy a couple cans of Hills Liver i.d. and she has eaten one can, finished it off over the week. She poops in the house when they get all mucousy and she is potty trained so I know her tummy is in turmoil. She gets this way on raw so I can't attribute it to one food in particular. She has always had bouts w/ this problem, they come and go but lately they seem to be more frequent. Her stools are loaded w/ mucous, slimy and sometimes that's all they are is brown slime. For the most part she seems fine but I know she is a strong little thing who just wants to play no matter what. When I feed raw I buy New Seasons hormone/pesticide free etc. ground fatty chicken, turkey, and occassionally I buy the ground beef when she gets tired of those. She does require diet changes/food variations that way but I have been blessed that all she has been thru she remains to have a strong appetite. I will also at times poach the food when she turns away from the raw. She is 8yrs and has a diagnosed liver shunt that I control w/ diet, but she is so borderline when it comes to me thinking I am controlling that that I am confused. I don't know what kind of liver shunt but amonia levels taken from her pointed to a shunt. She gets distilled water, and at times put a drop or two of ACV in it. The only treats she gets are ones I make w/ boiled chicken livers, vegi pulp, mollases, buckwheat, seasalt, kelp, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, milk solids etc. and gets only 2 of these a day, they are very small. I mix in her raw food some of the above at times but alternate so as she doesn't get too much. I also at times (most of the time) have the TN w/ garlic powder, nutritional yeast in a shaker bottle that goes on her raw. She only eats like 1/3 cup a day. I /2times a day for a week off and on give her a couple drops of dandelion or milk thistle tincture and will also put some drops of TT on her food as well to spice it up. I know this may sound like alot but I don't do this day after day. I alternate it all for a few days at a time. I just wing it with her I'm not schooled in any herbal courses or anything and I don't want to overdo anything w/ her either (but maybe I am). She is 4lb 2oz as of last week and overall 'acts' fine. Generally her stools are solid, never had continuous problems w/ that but she does get VERY mucousy stools that she cannot hold onto until potty time and I don't know what the heck I'm doing or not doing to cause this. I also will at times when she gets like this give her some kefir before bed and do this when she throws up which is another topic all together but may tie in but they don't happen at the same time, it's either stool or throw up. When she does throw up it generally is bile or acids or clear or if she is really icky her food will come up. She likes to eat grass which I scold against due to toxins and I occassionally sprinkle vegi enzymes on her food or mix it in when I premake the patties. I also toss her treats w/ enzyme powder. What have I left out? HELP. Pam
