Guest guest
I believe it was during or close to the first three months of Xolair that I developed a horrible cold, sinusitis, bronchitis, that lasted quite a while and seemed to have an increase in arthritis. I certainly did not feel good (although I don't think I reacted to the shots) much of the time even though my pft showed slight improvement. (What does a pft know? <grin>) I still get the colds with sinusitis and bronchitis 3 or 4 times a year. The good news is that my pulmo takes it seriously and jumps in to treat me immediately to avoid any more damage to my lungs. But, I had the same rate BEFORE Xolair. Here's sort've my improvement and lack of improvement in various areas: Asthma - overall, I'm definitely better and lung function tests show it. I do still have to use Advair & Spiriva but am getting easier breathing than pre-Xolair and that is especially significant in situations where I would normally have a major attack like in dirty dusty situations or gardening. Sinuses - these were " killers " for me and often misdiagnosed as daily headaches or migraines. (I'd like to find the neurologist who told me that and shove the reports in his sinuses) They've improved a great deal and I only take Sudafed about once every 10 days or so whereas before it was several times every day. Again, though, just like the asthma it was very slow and gradual change and w/sinuses took 9 months to show improvement. Arthritis - I don't know what's causing it but I'd say I'm a tad bit worse. Could be increasing age or other factors - I don't know. Maybe it was going to happen anyway. Chronic Diarrhea - There have been periods of time when I was significantly better but it's not continuous. Xolair might have helped but I really don't know. March 23rd will be my " One Year Anniversary " of using Xolair. Hope springs eternal and I'm hoping for more improvement as I go on. Hope good things will come your way. --- In , " markmehers " <mjheadley@...> wrote: > > I just joined. lottawood, I have experence the same adverse effects > as you with my first 3 injections, and not only are they lingering, > I'm not sure they've peaked. > > Also, while I have a history of mild asthma with sinusitis, > susceptability to acute, albeit transient, attacks when exposed to > many fragrances, and a propensity to anaphylaxis, I've been > undergoing Xolair administration in the hope it will help with other > severe chronic " mediator symptoms " from systemic mast cell disease: > especially excruciating abdominal pain linked to excessive histamine > and perhaps other " mediators " ; also intense pain from related > interstitial cystitis/prostatitis. > > So I feel that I'm at a crossroads. > > Has anyone experienced dramatic improvement/resolution with > impairments other than asthma and incidence of anaphylaxis/acute > attacks AFTER weathering a worsening of symptoms and other adverse > effects the first 3 months? > > Thanks >
