Guest guest
This is exactly how my mother in law explains her episodes. At first it was only a few minutes but now it has become progressively worse whereby she can't remember a whole day. ----- Original Message ---- From: instdesgn1 <instdesgn1@...> Sent: Saturday, July 12, 2008 10:44:43 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Xolair and memory loss This is very interesting! How did you ever get a test to see if you had elevated antibodies against IgE receptors? I have noticed on a few occasions (including the last Xolair injection by a slightly incompetent RN) I have had a strange odd sensation for a little bit - maybe 1 to 5 mins at the most - where I felt sort've " removed " or " foggy " or somehow not completely all there although I talked and think I acted ok. I couldn't ever put my finger on it though. It slightly reminded me of a TRH challenge test except there was no urinary urgency and no particularly funny taste in my mouth. It was sort've like something took control of my mind and body (slightly) very briefly. However, since I never had any swelling or difficulty breathing associated with the injection I did not consider it serious. I think I'm going to ask for a Prolactin test in the next few months. I doubt the pulmo will do it, though. My blood pressure has gradually escalated since I've been on Xolair although I don't know if that had anything to do with it. I'm thinking of going off Xolair at least for a while but that's for a myriad of reasons including cost and access and the fact that it seems to have mysteriously stopped working after 1-1/2 years. The latter seems very strange. --- In , " Mark Headley " <mjheadley@. ..> wrote: > > I can't say I had such severe episodes of memory loss, but cognitive impairment during my trial of Xolair was one thing that made it seemingly untenable for me to continue. > > In my case, this seemed consistent with worsening of my systemic mast cell disorder -- triggering additonal synthesis/release of histamine/other mediators. Hence, too, the spike in my prolactin that's since resolved. Pretreatment, my serum IgE levels were modest, but a blood test indicated elevated antibodies against IgE receptors -- similar to a patient whose chronic urticaria reportedly went into remission with Xolair administration. > > Mark > >
Guest guest
Thanks Doug. The Xolair has done wonders for my mother in law in regards to her asthma. She has not had to take Prednisone at all. We think it may be some sort of drug interaction with the Xolair and her other non asthma medications that may be the cause of her memory loss. ----- Original Message ---- From: uca79iii <uca79iii@...> Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2008 4:23:02 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Xolair and memory loss Xolair in a way has improved my memory. Before xolair, all I could take was 50 mg of Prednisone a day and sometimes more just to be able to breathe. It was horrible on my mental state and my memory was terrible! Since Xolair has taken away my need for Prednisone, my memory has vastly improved. Just my personal experience here. Everyone is different. Talk to your doctor.
