Guest guest
I just had my 4th shot and although my doctor told me it could be a year until I felt a real difference, I already feel much better. I am steroid resistant, so if it hadn't been for xolair, who knows where I would be? I have only had three severe asthma attacks since being on it. I used to have three or four a WEEK. I also haven't been in the hospital. I missed 16 days of work last year for hospitalizations so I can't say enough about how great I think it is! The only problem I have with it is when I get my shot, it really burns. But only in my right arm. It never burns like that on the left one. Kind of weird considering I am left handed. Who knows? As far as xolair side effects, I never even look to see what they might be because I am one of those people that if I see one, I tend to " have " it! lol But seriously, I have gone from taking 19 pills and 5 inhalers to taking symbicort, zyflo, allegra, and cromolyn. I also just started this new nasal spray called omnaris. I also take astelin, but I try not to take it too much cause it makes my nose bleed. Anyway, my rescue inhaler lasts a month now as opposed to a week. It's wonderful. Lastly, I have begun to exercise again. That means more to me than anything. I know I don't say much on here, but I just wanted to share my story. Xolair has changed my life...seriously. I am not afraid to go outside anymore! Guest guest
Has anyone ever had to change doctors while on Xolair? If so, how difficult was it? The allergist whose office administers my Xolair will not see me as a patient but referred me to a pulmonologist, who doesn't really know much about Xolair. Therefore, I feel that I am not being monitored while on this very powerful and expensive medication, and that is a little scary. I also stopped the allergy shots because I didn't feel it was safe since I was not under the care of an allergist, only medical assistants. Since my asthma is entirely related to allergies, I feel that I should find another allergist who will take over my care, but I haven't done anything because of the Xolair shots and being unsure how difficult it would be to change to a new doctor. Also, I really like the MA who administers my Xolair -- she is very good at what she does. Thanks. Carol

Once I moved to another city. The doctor referred me to another allergist there, transfered my records and the there was no problem at all. The 2nd time it was because my doctor left and went to another practice out of state. The new doctor that took his place you ask? He was the one in the first city who prescribed xolair for me in the first place. He moved here! Doug
