Guest guest
My IgE is 44 and with my weight I was prescribed 150 per month. My doctors office called Genentech and they suggested I alternate between 150 and 75 every two weeks. I wasn't even close to going to a higher dose based on the prescribing guidelines but my doctor didn't hesitate trying it. I'm eternally grateful because this dose was the silver bullet. It didn't cure my asthma but it did give me my life back. 150 per month just wasn't enough. Perhaps sharing my story with your doctor will help or perhaps you should see another doctor? From: pyle456 <jamcculloch2@...> Subject: [ ] update from Pamela on how she is doing Date: Monday, September 29, 2008, 5:35 AM I am no longer on Xolair...after a year there was not a noticeable improvement. ...I was on the miniumum dosage, but very close in weight and IGE to move up to the next level, but my presribing physician would not allow it (even though my husbands's insurance company was willing to pay!!) I do enjoy reading all the posts, but have refrained from posting anything myself as I'm no long on Xolair. Needless to say I am on numerous other meds (including a low dose of daily prednisone), and find the wealth of information in this group for severe asthmatics is helpful! Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to this group today! I take 2 shots every 2 weeks and it has changed my life. I think I would insist that my Dr increase the dosage and see how that works for awhile. I know that I could feel a change just after a few shots. I think it is worth another try. Guest guest
Hi Jane....I have tried to do this in the past. My respirologist is against it...there is only 1 group of respirologists in Kingston, and if I piss her off by trying to push the issue again, I could be without a doctor. The Province of Ontario has a shortage of doctors, and there are a lot of people who have to suck it up, even if the disagree with their doctors, or else they could find themselves with continuity of care (ie having to attend ER for prescription refills as the After-Hours Clinics won't refill them) Pamela __________________________________________________
