quick question for the group...

I got a 2 questions for the group right fast and hope that it doesnt

get taken wrong. First question is: Is there anyone here remotely

close to the DC/MD area? Also and this is the one im worried about how

many ppl in this group are african american? Im just asking it really

doesnt matter at all but im curious.

Hi Ekirei,

There are quite a few LPs in the DC/MD area. You are in District 3 in LPA.

If go to the LPA website at www.lpaonline.org, and click on the Local and

Regional link on the left side, it will show you a page with your local area

on it, and how to contact someone from that area.

As far as African-Americans members in the group, I know a few, but they

seem underrepresented in LPA (compared the national population average). I

would think, genetically, there should be the same number of

African-American dwarfs in proportion to other minorities as there are in

regular society. But I'm not a geneticist and I'm not aware if any studies

have been done on this. I don't know how many African-Americans belong to

this email list. We don't keep stats on that. In my opinion, however, LPA

should be color blind (and for the most part is, I hope), and you'd feel

welcome at any meeting regardless of ethnicity, religion, or country of

origin.
